Would never had occurred to me :)
I'm sticking with my boring old natural rubber bands. I slide 'em up and down to vary the dampening.

Welp, decided to grab some rubber bands from the office supply room and give it a go. I like it, add me to the list.

It has been a week since I have used the rubber bands on my racquet and I love it. Please add my name to the list too.

Started with a Gamma Red Eye. Switched and never looked back. Have used a rubber band since 1991. Still works as good or better than anything. Please add me to the club.

I will infiltrate this club by saying that you can do a lot better with vibration dampening and increased feel by using the gamma shockbuster and tossing aside this "cult" like rubber band!

    dr_punk,

I noticed that you havent updated the list so far (for about three years?). When you do, can I be #232. It is my family lucky number.

If you do ill post a pic of different way of tying my rubber band. I think it works best from most I have seen, although a bit "illegal", but eff. them rules, it is barely noticeable unless ppl are picky p3icks

I've been a member of this club for years without knowing the club existed. I've found that my best rubber bands come from the produce department in our local grocery store. They're used to hold stalks of broccoli together.

I'm in this club - but I do use the Volkl, Pro Kennex and Prince EXO3 dampers as they are nice and soft.
Otherwise the rubber band works very well.

Here is a hybrid I tried once - but the band is all you really need LOL

What's cool about the rubber bands as opposed to other dampeners is that they pull in on the center mains. This helps because you can adjust the string bed stiffness by sliding the rubber band up and down. Also, right after you string your racquet the tension is settling from the frame to the center of the strings.

If you start with the rubber band higher, you can find the initial position. Then as the strings settle and the string bed stiffens, you can adjust the rubber band lower. After that, you can slide the rubber band up as the string bed loses tension.

Other dampeners don't do any of this, as they push outward on the center mains.

I reckon I invented the rubber band phenom. Retail dampeners look nice but fly into the bushes on big topspin forehands. Very hard for a strangling rubber band to escape the two centre mains. Rather cheap, too. Rich red rubber bands are my favourite.

Just converted to rubberbandism today. The reason being is I've never lost the dampener on my 18X20 frames, but i recently switched to the AI 98 which is a 16X19. Today on a heavy spin serve, the dampener flew all the way into the next court without me even realizing it. Another guy from our group found it in the middle of their court. .Never going back.

I don't remember a time where I didn't use a rubber band as a dampener. Good ol' #64 (in the old school tan color way, of course)
