Is it actually illegal to have the elastic band tied around the bottom mains?
I could have sworn i read somewhere that you can have dampners/elastic bands below or on the last mains, but not above it...

    Hi,

I used to use the brand dampeners. But with my Tour Diablo Mids, I simply use the rubber band. Instead of a simple knot over a main/cross intersection, I have it weaved across 4 or 5 mains.

Biggest benefit? It doesn't pop out. No need to constantly readjust or secure to the strings.

    Thanks,
    eagle

If I string really tight I don't need it because the racquet doesn't ping, but the sound is aggrivating.

^^^^If you can tie a knot, you can tie on a rubber band to your racquet.

The only dampener I use is the rubber band (tied Roddick+Agassi style), and the Sampras "O"

Well, I do also have a Wilson nCode n6.1 95.
I'm going to start playing with it again, the regular PD feels awkward when I hit my topspins.
