Rublev says Djokovic is playing "better and better"!

“I feel like he's playing better and better comparing our matches. I think today I was, for the first time, ready enough to play [a] good match against him,” The previous matches mentally I was not ready at all. Even the match that I beat him in Serbia, I was just lucky. I don't know, he was just not playing [well]. On top of that, he was tired in [the] end of the match. It's not because of my game or something.”

The seventh seed did not point to a groundstroke or tactic that the 23-time major winner used against him. Instead, he was impressed by Djokovic’s focus.

“These things [are] impressive, a lot. That's why he's the greatest player,” Rublev said. “In the end those moments are [what] count. [It] doesn't matter how you hit. When you're winning or when you're losing, it matters in those moments. Those moments are the real tennis.”

“Of course I was nervous. It's normal when you go to play the player that never — I don't know, not never — but didn't lose for a long time. He's on grass playing [the] best tennis ever,” Rublev said.

It's silly to deny the aura of a living God that Djokovic has today. That alone beats most and then there's his still very excellent movement and skills.

Why does it seem like Alcaraz will not be fazed by this aura and then Alcaraz will win Wimbledon by defeating Novak?

The level in last set that Djokovic showed against Rublev is good enough to beat anyone. It was scary high level - Retrieving everything and hitting those backhand down the lines.

I must be watching a different game because Djokovic is CLEARLY putting in probably 60 percent effort at most (especially his service games) compared to what can he really produce. And if there was a match Rublev had a shot it was this one as Djoker played 3 straight days of tennis. Djoker is pacing himself and doing just enough to win semi comfortably. He hasn't reached that peak level A zone yet at Wimbledon. Not even close

"Those moments are the real tennis".
Wish he could explain it a bit more.

Rublev the grass court maestro says Djokovic is playing his best tennis at 36 after losing to him for the 10th time in a row in slams.

Djokovic is playing better this year than he did in the last few years which is all that Rublev has been exposed to. He probably didn’t see him play in 2015-16 when he was at a higher level. Djokovic is hitting his FH much bigger this year after trying it out at the AO to shorten points because of his hamstring injury.

This more aggressive version of Djokovic is a better version than the one that played in the last three years. You can see it on TV, can see it from the stands and the opponent can feel it even better. Of course, he is slower and his BH is worse than his prime - but he hasn’t dropped off much on those aspects while he has gained in others like serve, net game, FH, tactical astuteness etc. There is more to tennis than being fast running around the court or we will be talking about guys like DeMinaur, Monfils etc. being the best players of the past few years.
