Look at the beam of his raquect. It seems to me that Safin did use a FXP Prestige, not just a paint job!!!

bleno567, who saw safin play in person a few days ago, stated that the grommets were actually painted...

but yeah, safin did for a little bit use the real FP prestige. he was said to have different rackets in his bag...but it seems he's back to his original PC600.

  5. The only thing clear about the picture is that Safin is in it.

  6. I must have missed the post by bleno567, but I just looked at gettyimages and found what look to be painted CAP's with white paint having been rubbed off!

    http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/search/details_pop.aspx?iid=71588974

Do all FP players with CAP's have painted normal CAP's? It seems like with FP CAP's any lead tape on the outside of the frame at 3/9 would be visible over the most visible parts of the Head's FP cosmetic. Painted white lead tape?

The Head Prestige range: Classic 600, Liquidmetal and Flexpoint....are the diffrences really minimal and don't they all roughly play the same anyway?

Head is improving the FXP paintjob quality. Now they have painted not only the hole in the frame, the cap bumper is painted too.

actually, that does look like a paintjob. if you look at the flexpoint hole at 3 o'clock, you can tell it's painted.

    great pic btw.

I handled Marat's racquets in Indy.

The "Hole" is painted on, as previously discussed. I can't tell you which model it was, but it seemed like a new racquet. They're probably making him new racquets from an old mold.

But how about the beam on the picture? It looks like somewhat round, but not so rectangluar as PC600.

there is no suspension grip for the PC600...if you're talking about the collar, all PC600s have the plastic collar.

yeah i saw safin 3 times last week at legg mason. 2 of the times i was sitting front row. One of the times i sat right where the players keep their towels, so safin would walk right up to that area to towel off and be literally like a foot away from me. I saw the racquet very distinctly and it was without question a paintjob. definitely the pc 600 cause it had that plastic area over the grip.

Huge stiffness difference between fxp and most of the others. I've played w/all of them for years, up until my arm couldn't take the fxp stiffness. Got some fischers instead.

  27. The plastic collar that you saw can be installed a non-PC just as easily as it can be left off of a PC that uses non-PC pallets. Furthermore, just because a frame has a PC collar doesn't mean that the frame even has PC pallets, rather a molded handle is possible, as Safin has used.

Did you notice the CAP's? Painted CAP's?

yeah, i did notice the painted CAPs, they are definitely not the flexpoint caps with the piece missing, just painted on to look like it.

pics would be cool, but it's already been established that he mainly uses a special PC600. he did play w/ other prestige models (including the FP) in a few matches, but mainly uses the PC600.

I can't believe with all the posts regarding this issue, it's still being discussed. Safin plays with a custom frame made from the prestige classic 600 mold. It's not a PC 600 just painted to look like the current frame, it's identical to a pc600 with the exception that it's made with different materials to make it much lighter to make room for customization. As mentioned earlier the brown collar can be added or removed, and I've seen his frames both with and without the collar and I've seen his frames with pallets and with molded handles. I've got a couple of his LM pj frames and I've seen many of his FP pj frames, he's got versions with and without the painted cap systems. If those pics aren't posted by the other guy I'll put up pics of mine.

    ? ? ?

His cap gromets are real. I took strings out of them, myself, in Indy.

You can see the rings that Head paints on, on the far side of his racquet.

Bsandy, I never said they weren't real, I said I've seen his frame with the cap system painted at 3 & 9(poorly I might add), and I've seen his fp pj with standard black LM cap system.
