yes but the sheer number of people that are in the Safin corner hoping for a revival is a testament to the excitement his play can generate. I for one will always be optimistic :) regardless of how many times he gets dumped early out of GS events. if I can cheer Goran for 10 years then it's only early days for Safin :).

Safin is done for this year.

As much as i like him, i really dont see him winning another title for the rest of the year. His best chance is in Russia now that Y-man is retired. But then there'll be plenty of players (eg paradorn) who peak late season. Safin peaked in January this year, and i doubt he'll peak again now because he hasnt impressed anyone since then. And even if he does stop acting like a ****** it'll take a very good draw, ie no Fed, hewitt A-Rod for him to progress late into a tournament, esp the last 2 masters. That's what he had in Beijing, a good draw. So no more titles for him this year, and for next year, since its him, even God cant predict.

I think he might win one more title at least this year. There are Two tournament in Russia, in which he is the biggest favorite and he won St. Peters. twice in his carrer. Paradorn is peaking this fall? Cmon he is not playing close to his best tennis this fall... I think he really wants to get to Houston where he will get a chance to prove himself once again..
