looks like a grip increasing heat shrink. im not sure why that might be there, becase he can probobly order his frames in teh correct grip size. other than that, it can be a grip wrappeed under the tourna, but taht makes no sense on his stick. most likely a heatshrink sleeve.

its normal that the sleeve reaches over onto the butcap where the logo is, in fact thats hte way it should be to prevent it from coming off, but i just dont understand why he uses. perhaps he uses a very big grip size, more than 4 5/8, but in that case, he'd have a custom pallet made. . . its quite puzzling.

....I heard that he plays with a SMALL grip....and if you look at his serve grip...and forehand....his hand wraps all the way around the handle (f.h.) and index finger (serve)....You're NOT going to do that with a 5/8+ grip size.....

maybe its some special underwrap he uses to get a particul feel, or maybe the new style head logo he glued onto the butcap is falling off, and back end of the pallet is showing. anyone know what color the pallet on a prestige classic is? does the pic look like that color?

hes a big guy safin, 6 foot 4, and im sure he has big hands as well. also, the grip under the tounra night be a thinner grip then a stock synthetic, or maybe its a thinner leather grip. does anyone know what replacment grip safin is playing with? also, are his pallets custom or stock?

What is it with these pros using such small grips? I heard Federer uses a 4 3/8 grip. These guys are pretty big with, I'm sure, pretty large hands. I would think guys like Safin and Federer should be using at least 4 5/8 or 4 3/4 size grips if they gripped the handles like most recreational tennis players.

more spin that way. nadal does the same thing. the smaller the grip, the more you can whip some spin onto the ball supposedly.

  15. More spin, more maneuverability. Try it. Pros don't need a larger grip's edge in stability. Besides, Federer uses that lame Wilson Pro overgrip, so he needs a small size to be able to hold on to it :) Federer wraps it with a decent amount of overlap, so it can't be that small.
