I'm not really sure what he's using in Wimbledon. However, his personal website confirmed that during the 2008 Australian Open, he used Big Banger Original mains at 28kg and Babolat VS Gut 130 crosses at 27kg.

I heard a commentator say he strings so tight, at the stadium of wimbledon, the strings strinking the ball sound like gun shots

I've seen him playing live, and when he takes a full cut on his backhand and hits it flat, it sure does.

From looking at pictures taken at Wimbledon, it seems like he's not using VS Touch crosses anymore. The colors of the mains and crosses look very much alike. During the Australian Open 2008, you could notice the difference in color between the mains and crosses because he used Luxilon Original mains and VS Touch crosses.

58/57 kg is only 61-59 lbs...wouldn't really consider that "so tight". i think the gunshot sound just comes from the fact that he hits the ball so darn hard, and so friggin cleanly.

You mean 28/27 kg, right? ;)

I agree with you. While stringing tight might help a tiny bit with the sound it's not the factor why his strokes sound like rifle shots.

During the 2007 Las Vegas Tennis Channel Open, Marat strung his racquets at 25/24 kg, yet you could still hear that same loud bang on every shot.

The big man is a beast, I tell ya.
