So before Bridgette Wilson came along, i know sampras had a girlfriend (i forgot her name, but she can be found in this clip at 6:00 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fLkVJSBplE)

anyway, do you think it's weird how the guy (i think it was his coach paul anacone) and his gf at the time were hugging like that? or is it just me?

I don't see why it should be weird.

That girl was Delana Mulcahy, a law student at the time. When Pete and her split, she filed suit against him, claiming she was owed money, for 'supporting' him on tour. They settled out of court. That was a classic tennis match, I mean, the one with Corretja---when Pete hit a second serve ace on match point against him, Corretja later said, "I knew it was almost over."

If you want to watch highlights of the match, go ahead, but if you want to see some stupid hug, don't waste your time. He was hugging her in congratulatory form. Are you one of the people that want to ban Sesame Street because they depict Oscar, Cookie monster and Grover as scary monsters and Burt and Ernie as gay.

A law student was supporting him? Who was supporting her? And if she sued him, I guess she saw some assets to go after. Which brings us back to why he would have needed her support. Interesting world.

She sued for supplying 'emotional support' while she was with him.
One reporter later wrote, "If you're a kid with money, never date a law student."

Kimberly Williams was definitely the cutest.

Did the law student actually get any money out of Sampras? That's f'ing ridiculous and pathetic.

Well if they settled, she got money. How much is usually never disclosed.

I remember Sampras parents were totally against the relationship because she suddenly showed up after he won his 1st US Open at 19. She was much older than him. I seem to remember she was in the was in her late 20's at the time. His parents smelled gold digger from a mile away. Sampras is very lucky that she didn't get pregnant or didn't get into a situation where she could claim common law marriage or he would have lost a heck of a lot more money.

"That was a classic tennis match, I mean, the one with Corretja---"

If I told you how many matches I've seen at the US Open you wouldn't believe me. :) Anyway, the Sampras-Coretja was certainly one of the best ever.

Sampras threw up during the last set and I still can't believe he finished the match let alone won it. It was very, very intense.

I've got a little trivia question for you.

Though the court looks full on that video, it wasn't at all. That match took place on the second Wednesday starting in the afternoon and it was not expected to be much of a match. By the time it was in the 5th there was a bigger crowd stuck outside the stadium then was in it.

The night match was by far the most anticipated match that Wednesday.

Who was playing in his/her last US Open that everyone had come out to see at night and were stuck outside waiting for while the Sampras-Coretja classic was going on?

I'm not sure I know many women who advocate the use of leadtape consistently since most racquets these days are so light.

  27. After seeing what was mentioned in this thread, you think the bad thing about Mulcahy was her looks, which are probably still better than those of your future girlfriend, muchless when Sampras was actually with her ?? Thanks for doing your part in saving the real women for the rest of us.

Hey I'm sure whatever a hottie in her late 20's performed for an awkward 19 year old Petey was worth the money. I'm sure she was his first.

As far as I recall, she was 8-9 year older than Pete.
I could be wrong on that but I'm pretty sure she is over 40 now.

  33. She was (and remains) born seven years before Sampras and she graduated with a bachelor's degree the year that Sampras turned 21. She is also a gold-digger with a fake tan.

I called her phone but machine was answering. I left an email for Delaina. I hope she does not mind.

It is very clear that most men in the U.S. have girl friends prior to their marriages, and extra-marital relationships with other women, but why then we Muslims are criticized for having more than one wife which has a legal cover? My head spins! Is it ok to have one wife and several other sex affairs at the same time, or make it legal, as we do, and have more than one wife? Which one is better?

It is not ok to have an affair while you are married. Where did you get the idea that it was? The vast majority of Americans would say that it is wrong. Having a girlfriend before you get married is completely different from having an affair once you are married.

Come on! I have very close association with Americans for decades. I know for sure that large number of Americans (men and women) have extra-marital affairs that includes sex! Even if it is one in one million, there has to be a solution! That was my point. If you don't get it; well, you don't get it!

The solution to extramarital affairs is to have more wives? People who are prone to have these affairs will certainly continue doing so even if they have 2 or 3 wives. Are you saying that Muslim men never have affairs?

I don't deny that there are a number of people who have sex outside of marriage in the US, but the vast majority of Americans would still would consider it wrong even the ones that are doing it. Just like people who commit crimes, lie, cheat or steal know what they are doing is wrong or is at least considered by society as wrong but they do it anyways.

There are solutions in America to extramarital affairs: get divorced (which usually happens when the spouse finds out), don't get married or have an "open" marriage.

Also by your logic why can't women have more than 1 husband?
