Here's a picture of some rackets that were just made recently made for Pete. Is that lead tape I see along the sides?

Thanks for the answer and the link. Wow, it sure is hard to insert a picture with this forum's software. Very frustrating considering all the threads with pictures.

I'm very good with computers but this forum seems to be hiding from me, how to insert pictures. It really pisses me off.

You're just picking the wrong tools for what you are trying to achieve. You are providing a link to a page containing an image (not an image itself) so use the link icon (little globe with chain link). If you actually had a link to a direct image (JPG) file then you should use the image icon (little box with mountains and sun). As with most computer related items ... it's the user not the computer :) hehehe happens to the best of us.

Nope, not lead tape, they randomly decided to paint silver color, very similar to lead tape color, right at 3 & 9 were you would normaly put lead tape.

    Definitely not lead tape.

That's what Yonex did for the RDS 001, for example....

to help hide the fact that players like Lleyton Hewitt put their lead tape there...

I was google-ing large pics of Hewitt with the RDS 001 and the wallpaper pic was the best I could find. I see that site has protections. If you do a search, you might be able to find it. He's coiled up to hit a nice sliced backhand, showing the inside of his frame.

Awesome! Thanks a ton! I think I found the picture you are describing! It's perfect!

I've been keeping my RDS 001 Mid in my bag for around 5-6 months now and it's a very interesting frame. I might try Hewitt's lead placements! :)

Went to the Champions Series event in Seattle yesterday. That is for sure lead on the frame. Not only is it lead - it's either much thicker lead tape than the rolls you get at TW ... or it's 2 or 3 layers of that tape. That must be one heavy heavy frame.

The frame (even buttcap) was painted all black. Sure looked like a Babolat Pure Storm Tour ... buttcap seemed to still show the outline of the babolat logo even thought it was sprayed black. String - looked like RPM ... or another black string that is textured like the RPM. We sat in the first row right behind the players chairs so it was easy to tell the string had some kind of 'shaping' to it. For a racquet bag Sampras just had a nike duffle bag in black.

EDIT: he was wearing the Nike Vapor III shoes - in white... they looked pretty cool!

I saw Pete play last night in Seattle. He was using what looked like a blacked out Pure Storm with a full bed of some very shiny black poly and roughly eight inches of tape centered on 3 & 9 o'clock. He was like the sixth grader playing against third and fourth graders on the playground, so much more imposing was his game than theirs. Chang whom Pete payed in the final last night was serving well and had some spectacular shots and some ridiculous returns of serve, but in the end was no match for Pete. I came away thinking Pete could probably crack the top 50 on the ATP tour today if he really wanted to. Chang's nerves were solid; he did a great job more than once of keeping his matches (first against Courier, then against Pete) from slipping away whenever his opponent happened to be enjoying the momentum. J-Mac...well, it was huge thrill just to watch him play up close (buddy and I had front row seats). Courier seemed like a rock star, oozing with an odd charisma, exceedingly comfortable on stage, but his level of play also seemed the most vulnerable to the emotional ups and downs.

Does Sampras add lead to the handle? If so how much and where on the handle?

i remember reading somewhere that he used up 6 layers of lead tape at 3 and 9 on hid prostaff. Played a very heavy frame.

It just seems wrong that Sampras is using anything but a Wilson... but that's just me.
