I am heading out to California this weekend to see Andy Roddick play a WTT match in Irvine. While in the area, I figured I should check out San Diego too. I should be getting in to town around 5 on Friday night. I'm going to call La Costa Resort tomorrow and see if I can get a clay court during that time. If any 4.5 players want to hit Friday night please email me at kahlz@mst.edu. I'll update this post tomorrow if I was able to book a clay court, otherwise I'll have to hit elsewhere.

If you don't get a clay court and can get down into San Diego, try Balboa Park. There are no clay courts, but there are plenty of pickup games.

I believe Cheetah and Suresh are also in the neighborhood, so if you don't see them ITT, you may want to track them down in the Tips and Instruction subforum.

Find me when you get back to LV. I've got the next three weeks pretty clear on my schedule.

Thanks for the reply Velvet Ga el, we will definitely play when I get back into town next week. I didn't realize Cheetah and Suresh were in San Diego. If either of you want to hit this Friday, let me know I'd definitely be interested. I'm fine with any court as well. I was only suggesting red clay because it was something I'd always wanted to do, and they are pretty hard to find in the US.

I just called La Costa Resort and unfortunately you have to be staying there to use the clay courts unless I take a lesson but that is $100 an hour (no thanks). Nonetheless, the offer still stands to hit with any 4.5s in the San Diego area this Friday night at a court of your choice.

The courts that rkelley, cheetah and I have played with others in this forum are not available this weekend. A junior tournament is on from Friday 3 pm through Sunday.

Thanks for the reply sureshs. If you wanted to hit then, are there any other good courts close to your area?

Come down to Balboa Park, tomorrow night. Another TT member was here for a week and we had a blast hitting and playing doubles.

Just checking Bud, is Balboa Park the courts that sureshs was talking about? If so, the it sounds like the courts aren't available because of a tournament.

There are, but reservation systems do not exist.

BTW, the junior tournament start has been moved to tomorrow, so I am playing at 6 pm today at the club. The guy I normally play with is coming, so I did not want to tell him no. Moreover, at 7 pm the court is booked, so timing will be very fine.

Week of July 4th, right? If so, I suggested to him to contact you since you were close to where he was staying. In fact, the original plan was to see if you could give him a ride up, but then the other 2 guys were not available for doubles.

Thanks for clarifying sureshs. I'll go ahead and head to Balboa Park then since your place is all booked. I'll probably be in SD by 6 tonight at the latest. Bud, let me know what time you were thinking of hitting and I'll be there.

Yes, JLYON. We had a few great sets with a couple other 4.5+ doubles players yesterday (Thursday).

Bud it was great meeting you on the courts. Had a great time getting out and hitting balls almost every evening.
Anyone going to SD should check out Balboa Park. Challenge court was fun, as you never know what you are going to get.
Maybe see you guys in 2 yrs :)
