Hey Josh...
I'll get to SanPabloCourts sometime between 10-11, now all the courts are free because I think the kid's program's are over, at least I hope.
Hope to see you there sometime around mid day or so....

Wow, lucky I saw this post! I guess you got my text message! Yup, I'll plan on getting there around mid-day (probably around noon). I'll send you another text, call you, or contact you through the forum if anything changes.

Josh, had a long day windsurfing, so I won't show till around you show, around mid day.
Mikeler, sorry to miss you. We could have figured out strings for our rackets, because I think President is going for lower tensions also, to save his arm from his forehand swings.

Ok, looking forward to playing. Hopefully we can get some decent doubles in today and it isn't only the usual 3.0 old dudes.

Yeah, I'll drive the GTI.
Still home at 10, hoping my shoulder loosens up a bit.
It's cold (61), foggy wet, and perfect weather for my arthriitis today..:):)

Worked out.
Both of us got one warmup set with really slow 3.5 old fart's tennis, so when we hit with each other, nothing worked and we were caught off balance constantly.
After 1/2 hour of this nonsense, another 4.0 shows up, hit's a bit, and we find another 4.0 to play some doubles.
Great doubles, everyone had fun, everyone made horrible misses and lots of good shots, so nobody played bad or really well.
4.0 doubles can be fun, good excersise, and lots of sprinting, digging, angles, and retrieving, when all 4 or playing decently.

LeeD I will be heading up on September 13 so that Saturday and will leave around Tuesday. Let's set up a hit when it gets closer yeah? Perhaps we should video tape so more people will believe your claims about your serve. I'm trusting your claims and Presidents claims about your ability haha. Take it easy on me :)

Sure, no problem, just contact here is best, because my cell doesn't answer texting (we never paid for texting), but recieves it.
Don't think you will have any problem with my serve, as it's barely 5 mph faster than most of yours, and never really goes in ever. I can spend an entire set not getting a first serve IN, then it goes in 5 in a row for no good reason.
One word for my tennis....erratic at best.

Hey LeeD, so my parents confirmed that we are heading up Sept 13 to Sept 16. Let's try to schedule either 14 or 15 for a few hours.

Hi Matt...
15th is better, a Monday, so the courts aren't crowded. Best starting time around noon to one, when the old farts are leaving.
Remember, I don't own a car, so have to borrow my g/f's. She won't want me driving into the City to play tennis, or anywhere farther than Berkeley.
I usually don't windsurf on Mondays, so I do have all afternoon to play.
I got the balls covered for sure.

Okay let's aim for Monday around that time then. I'll let you know when it gets closer to it. Thanks LeeD!

For sure, now the kids lessons are done, and 6 courts are availible.
So we can hit or whatever, plenty of courts, I got the tennis balls.

Cool, I hope to see you then. Won't be able to play for all that long because I have a plane to catch in the evening, but still should be fun.

Hi Matt...
Just got done hitting a few with President.
Are your family interested in wine? Like Napa/Sonoma Wine Country Tours?
For nature, the beach's across the GoldenGateBridge from SF, like Cronkite, Muir, or Stinson, are real gems within 15 miles of SF.
3 hours South is the city of Carmel. Quaint shops, cool walking, nice white sand beach, and Pebble Beach Golf Course.
Take in the Giant's game at PacBellPark, located within 7 blocks of MarketSt. and the Embarcadero.
Some say the DeYoung Museum and Steinhardt Aquarium are world class.
I mentioned GGBridge, but walking across it and back seem one of the things every tourist wants to do at least once in their lifetimes.
Alcatraz tours leave 3 times a day from Pier 39.
Eat lunch 52 floors off the street at the Bank of America Building on California St. and Battery.
Hike Lands End from the CliffHouse to the LincolnParkGolf course and back. Eat breakfast or lunch at Cliffhouse or Louies's, a world famous breakfast restaurant overlooking the Cliff House and the Pacific Ocean.

Some other activities that could be fun in SF:

- surfing at the waves at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge (if there are any at that time)
- visiting the historical Angel Island Immigration Station
http://www.aiisf.org/visit/visitor-faq
- eating fresh raw oysters
- driving up to the Redwood forest. (I actually like Sequoia National Park more, though)
- participating in a football distance throw contest vs LeeD

Ft.Point is basically a beginner wave that breaks on medium to low tides, usually slow, mushy, extremely crowded, and Matt don't surf. Didn't you know, Vietnamese don't surf. Ask Robert Duvall.
My Dad spent 4 months at Angel Island in 1940.
Crab and fish at Fisherman's Wharf, oysters up the road 40 miles at Tomales Bay.
Muir Woods is the local park that Redwoods hang out at.
While some younger guys can have pretty good arms, there won't be many guys short of college or high school QB's who can throw farther than 50 yards without any warmup whatsoever.

I'm not really into oysters. But I'm a big fan of New England clam chowder and seafood bisque.

LeeD

Hard to get GOOD New England chowder in San Francisco. Better to try in Boston.
Our chowder out here is white sauce, excellent, but not New England style at all.
Oysters are an acquired taste and experience thing. Some say it enhances certain values, but it never did anything positive for me except lighten the load in my wallet. Might I suggest... Tomales Bay Oyster Company.

Definitely heading to Muir woods. Golden Gate probably. Will pass by Santa Cruz, Stanford, and Cal. Where exactly are San Pablo Courts?

San Pablo Courts is about 1.5 miles directly W of the UC Berkeley Campus, like around San Pablo Ave. and Ashby Ave.

Let me know if this is in bad taste but I might be able to make a monday if i have enough warning like now.

If you dont mind me butting in, I would love to play with you guys. Matt you could hit with a real racket and show us that TT Djokovic form of yours.

Otherwise let me know and I will work :(

No problem.
Something like Sept13, a Monday, after he sight sees over the weekend to MuirWoods, GGBridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, LombardSt. and some stuff like that.
Would be good to hit with you again.

Hey Shroud!
You should try to make SanPabloPark courts on the next few Mondays. At least for a few weeks, we actually got a couple of real 4.0's to show up, and one League 4.5 No.2 singles player, one finalists at today's 65's singles tourney at Davies, and some lefty old farts with decent serves.
Too bad President went back to Philly. He's got the hardest heaviest topspin forehand I've seen in the past 20 years, and I've hit with Freedom, Josh, Tracy, and his bud Mal Allen.

Wish I could be there for the meet up, shame I had to leave. We could have got some good doubles action in, LeeD and I are still undefeated in doubles together after playing quite a few sets now. :) Happy hitting guys.

Look at this, finally a thread for the San Pablo tennis courts.

Hey Lee,
How is the scene at the courts on Friday mornings?
I went a couple of times over the past year but was not encouraged with the play that was going on so never ended up.

If you guys don't mind a fourth for the TT get together, would love to join as well.

Hey Lee, maybe we should have an Open Invitational thing like JackB1 did on Tips. Would be cool.

I may try to show up just out of sheer curiosity...I'll have to come up with a good excuse to leave the office

Thats a forehand for sure.

Not this monday but maybe the next. I'll look at the schedule. Would be fun. I need lots of matches I think to get my serve in order. Thanks

Guys, all visitors are welcome. We have 6 availible courts, times usually from 10-2 mid day.
Haven't hit with Papa in two years now. I'd imagine his game got more powerful, smarter, and more consistent.
Yaz, drop in anytime. We got one league 4.5 player who lost to Zack (6'5" twist serve guy) in tiebreak third set, and he's too good to hit with the old folkes. If nothing else, you can check if my first flat serve is real.
National #47 in Girls 12's hit there twice a week, and always looking for singles.
Local finalist in 65's shows up around noon.
NorCal top 10 70's shows up with his 3 dogs around 11.
And of course, a pack of us old farts who barely move, poke at the ball, and call your close shots "OUT" ....:):):)

Too minor for anyone but the actual victims to worry about.
We can't worry about every and all problems in the world. Don't we have some virus looming over us? Isn't climate change going to end the rule of humans?

just spent an amazing week in the SFO area. We (wife, 3 kids and I) stayed at the HMB area, and drove around, watched surfers all over the place, I stayed away from tennis.
The weather was awesome. Food and atmosphere were mind blowing.
Sometimes, I ask myself what the heck are we doing in the DFW area?!
Then, for fun, I went on Zillow.com and realized that the apartment size of our MB walk in closet is more expensive than our whole 4100 SF home sitting on some of the nicest areas of north DFW on 0.4 ac.
Back to reality.

Absolutely enjoyed last week...

Social security says it all.
True, I have done some gardening under the table, but that would account for maybe 30 bucks a day, like twice a week.
So, for money made, make it 120,000 counting all under the table jobs.
