I couldn't see a thread, apologies if there actually is one!

They're into a deciding set, Almagro winning the first set 6-3, Volandri coming back and winning set 2 6-4.

Their first decider since 2008, will it be 5 wins in a row for Almagro or will Volandri snap a 5 year losing streak?

It's also the first final they've played against each other.

Almagro's serve has really improved in the last 1-2 years. 18 aces for NA vs 0 for FV.

He's just so solid off of both wings and keeps his unforced errors down. Plus, his 1st serve has improved.

Congrats to Nico! Gotta love it when the one handed backhands win.

Why can't Nico win RG at least once. At least Nico clay court tennis is far more appealing than Nadal.

Keep doing well at the Small Clay court events and hasn't even reached a MS1000 Clay final yet. While Verdasco has one...

Almagro is 3-35 against the current top 10. Only guys he is able to beat are Berdych and Murray on clay. Even Tsonga is 3-0 against Almagro on clay.

And people wonder if he's able to win RG...

It more of a hope than reality that he wins RG. Sick of seeing Nadal win RG.

What was Soderking's record before making his two RG finals (Nico has a winning record against him on clay by the way)? Things can change in tennis and the road to challenging at the bigger tournaments starts at the smaller ones.

With the improvements to his game (serve), I expect Almagro will start seeing success at the 500 and 1000 level clay tournaments this season. By the time RG comes around this season, I'll be happy to see him make a run to the final 8.

If the seeding holds, Almagro will have a great test against Ferrer at this week's Buenos Aires event. He's 0-8 against David, and I think Nico has the game to start getting some wins.

Fair point about Söderling. But the Söderling story was some sort of a miracle, you couldn't exactly have bet on it before it happened.
