I just got back from the SAP tonight. Caught the tail end of Delpo's match, watched Verdasco's win and then the Monfils 3-setter. Monfils looked to have a couple injuries tonight. In this one long rally near the end of the second set he was playing ridiculous defense and appeared to have twisted his ankle when he was stretched out wide. The injury kept him on the ground for a few minutes. Then in the 3rd he took a medical time out to have his left wrist re-wrapped. I was sitting right behind him actually and could faintly hear his conversation with the medical trainer. A few games in after that he was back to serving 130+mph bombs. Insane. It was a good night of tennis. I managed to get Monfil's autograph too!

so rovex, what's ur fashion feel re: nando's threads this year? personally, i like them, but i'm curious to hear ur views.

istomin could push Fer to three, but the no. 1 seed should prevail! :)

Its the greatest of all time. Verdasco rocking the pink + fauxhawk is the mojo.

Too bad I can't watch the match (saw the same match up last year in the semis cause it was on earlier - great match), it's on pretty late here in europe.

Monfils shouldn't have a problem here...

Which means the clown will probably find a way to lose.

Last night mine was struggling with buffering on the HD option, but tonight it's fine so far.

I quite like the people commentating on it... Not afraid to tell it like it is!

Monfils tried his best to throw away the 2nd set, but couldn't quite manage it.

You gotta feel for Smyzcek(???) , He played a really nice match and wound up losing in straights losing a few points here and there.
That is why analyzing results isn't always fair.

Delpo is a Awsome doubles player. If he played alot of doubles, he would be #1 in about 6 month...

    ANNOUNCEMENT:

Monfils withdrew due to injury from yesterday.

So, Raonic has agreed to do an exhibition at his previously scheduled SF time, 1:00 p.m. Local in Calif.

Raonic will play an exo vs. Karlovic, then they'll have a serving contest after their match! :)

somebody asked ken thomas that the other day, and his answer was that it looks the same it did in 2009 ..... otoh, we havent really gotten a good view IMO b/c of the relative lack of on-court cameras so far this week .... hopefully, there w/b more over the weekend.

anyway, that match had some really fun moments ...
... but now Delpo can concentrate on singles! :)

I ... am conflicted about this.

I am happy for Milos that he gets to play in his first final.

I'm not sure it will be an even match though. Whoever his opponent is will have had to play a full-out semifinal.

(Okay, okay - I'm also a Polito fan who thinks he will get through the semi but is worried about him not getting a fair shake as he will advance to the final with more of a need to recuperate. )

Interesting stats. While your numbers for Milos are technically correct, since his birthday is December 27 you're comparing his rankings to someone who had nearly a year more on tour to accumulate points. Delpo's birthday is Sept 23 so he had a lot more tournaments on Jan 1 on a comparative basis. Regardless, they're both wonderful young players and I only hope Milos does as well as Delpo has. :)

Yep. Better comparison would be looking at where they were on their birthdays. Such as:

    When turning 17:
    Raonic: 1385
    Delpo: 209

    18 years old:
    Raonic: 915
    Delpo: 106

    19 years old:
    Raonic: 375
    Delpo: 50

    20 years old:
    Raonic: 156
    Delpo: 13

    21 years old:
    Raonic: ???
    Delpo: 5

    Same story of course really.

Del Potro developed earlier and quicker than most young players do these days.

Stanford and Illini team up to win the Doubles title-- Could be the NEXT #1 team

INCREDIBLE tiebreaker. LIPSKY and RAM Wins the SAP doubles final. 10 points to 8. Of course, Lipsky serves it out on Match point with serve up the MIDDLE.

Congratulations. This could be a New Stanford and Illini alliance for the many more years to come.
