I feel like rooting for Mississippi State, but I am fearful of how high Kentucky might climb in the rankings if MSU beats them.

ole miss very well might be higher than 6 at the end of the season

UGA moved up in the last rankings, so that helps them if it maintains

and alabama will move up so much next week that two weeks from now that loss won't hurt them much anymore

just a totally absurd system - i know i'm a broken record, but less broken than the ita rankings

Of course they are heading to a tiebreak at 1 to decide the doubles point between Kentucky and Mississippi State.

actually gap too big b/t top 5 and the rest for them to move up - but wouldn't be surprised if they are still ranked 6 by time for seedings in a couple weeks

No Grant Roberts in the lineup for Kentucky so its Lai, Pennington, and Murra at 4, 5, and 6. Kentucky needs both Rossi and Jomby to win if they are going to take this one.

Who won the doubles point? LiveStats still says 8-8.

    Quarterfinals

Kentucky pulled it out late last night at 3:23am est with straight set wins from Rossi, Jomby, and Pennington. I was surprised White wilted against a freshmen in Pennington that hadn't seen a whole lot of action this year. Got to wonder what Kentucky will have left in the tank tonight against Georgia.

South Carolina beat Florida in the regular season - will be interesting an interesting match. If Vandy can put all together again today I think they've got a shot against Tennessee.

    #6 South Carolina vs. #3 Florida - Gators 4-0
    #7 Vanderbilt vs. #2 Tennessee - UT Blog - Vols 4-1
    #12 Alabama vs. #4 Texas A&M - aTm 4-1

Gators get the doubles point and take 4 first sets in singles, but this one is far from decided.

Gators taking it to So Carolina. Could be over very shortly if Diep and Alford can serve it out

Gators chomp South Carolina. Hopefully it's enough to keep SC from hosting.

If SC hosts you guys could likely be the 2 seed there so that could be a win-win.

    Next match should be interesting

Vanderbilt seems pretty good when they bring it

Later Alabama and UK will get blown out since they're both garbage

I am extremely pleased with the way we closed that out. We lost, or made interesting, matches like this earlier this year.

The Frenchies at the top are playing well for us.

I'd like to face someone new but a rematch vs SC would be nice as we would have Dom Maden this time .

What's up with the 2 match w/ UT and Vandy. Gonzales Austin takes a tight first set, then goes down 0-6, now 1-5? Is he hurt or is Reece GOATing?

Probably a little of both, Austin has a tendency to do that in matches. When he's on he's good when he is not he can go down quickly.

A&M was up a break on all 3 doubles courts earlier and now Bama is close to finishing 3 and 1 and 2 are tied.

A&M up breaks on courts 1-5 and Bama up a break on 6. This one going just like the regular season meeting.

Everybody about through a set, except for Minc and Pasha. Minc must be one super grinder.

Apparently Jomby had a meltdown and got a game penalty and went into the tank after that. Wagland takes it 6-1 1-6 6-1.

Georgia and Kentucky tied up at 3. It comes down to #3 singles - Pasha leads Minc 2-0 in the 3rd set.

FWIW, Pennington for UK has a lot of upside. All he does is win.

FWIW, the Ole Miss blog has been by far the better of the blogs during this tournament. I don't know if the UT/UGA bloggers are sitting in the wrong area or what but they were usually a few points behind most of the time and rarely were doing point by point scoring.

Vols get the doubles point. Not sure Florida can take 4 singles matches from UT.

It'll be tough but 3-6 I think they have a very good shot at. And 2 could be close

EDIT: I'd put them UF as the favorite at 3,4,6

Exactly. I get the logic of putting a tough senior out there, but I'm nervous that the fitness risk might bite us.

Judging by the scores, it was a totally different match than when they played Easter weekend. I was at that match, and while they were close, Georgia pretty much dominated the singles. Score lines for Pasha and Pieters in particular were totally opposite.

Anyways, good win. Two close matches so far, but hopefully the guys will really pull it all together tomorrow and not leave everyone on the edge of their seats.

They said he had a blister yesterday but yeah he hasn't been as sharp this year - still winning more than he's losing but the matches he seems to be dropping are ones he would have won last year. A lot of it goes back to earlier in the year when he was held out of the lineup for about a month for a "coaches decision" which kind of explains the performance. I'd be really surprised if he beat Libietis today - probably will be a DNF or Libietis win.

I think we'll get our 3 wins at 3, 5, and 6 today. Pieters results at 4 the last 2 days have been poor to say the least so normally I would have said him too and he may still win but not banking on it.
