I'd have to look up what that rule about a .500 record actually is - I'd be very surprised if they didn't make it in. It may be that you just need to be .500 at the end of the regular season and postseason doesn't necessarily count against it.

The manual just says "Teams must have at least a .500 record versus Division I institutions to be considered for an at-large berth".

Like I mentioned above I have to think that .500 record is based off your regular season record because if it didn't then Alabama would have just played Nichols State a 3rd time on Sunday to get their record above .500. If it turns out the conference tournament does count and they don't get in then that'd be on the Alabama coach for not knowing.

I can't imagine Vanderbilt will struggle too much with Auburn today and Mississippi State should roll over LSU as well.

LSU is fighting for their tournament life and they roll over Miss St in dubs. They took #3 dubs 8-0

LSU stuns Miss State 4-2. LSU has won as many conference matches in the last 2 days as they had in the previous 2 months. There goes Miss State's chance at hosting a regional. LSU now sitting on the bubble with a 14-13 record.

Which means a win over Notre Dame (will be the 5v4 match in ACCs) would get Clemson into the top 16 more than likely.

Even without Stropp it's pretty surprising that LSU was able to win that easily at 4-6

Comments from Mississippi State Head Coach Per Nilsson

"LSU was better than us. They blew us out in three matches. We have to show up and play better than that. They did a good job, they won the crucial doubles point and that was a big one."

On having to sit Malte Stropp due to injury:
"He's our team captain and probably our strongest point and it hurts us, but we did it earlier in the year as well and we came through. Today we just didn't show up."

These comments by LSU's coach definitely say that you have to be .500 or better with the conference tournament included as part of your record. If that's true then Alabama is out despite being ranked in the top 35.

    LSU Head Coach Jeff Brown
    On the match:
"There was a lot of pressure on the team with a lot of things going on. If we would've lost we wouldn't have made the NCAA Tournament, and now we have a shot. With the .500 rule, we would've been below that, and that's a scary thing. We also had to have a major win over a very good team, so those are some of thoughts in the coaches' heads. The players didn't think about all that stuff, but they did a great job of jumping on them in doubles early, then the three guys who ended up winning did a great job in the beginning of the singles."

Amazing win. But will that help lsu? Their ranking was bad all year. Also good for ole miss as their bad loss vs lsu just got into a decent loss. The bama story is ???

Kentucky and Georgia both running blogs today. The UK blog should make Ole Miss fans happy since they pretty much dominated the Tennessee blog yesterday.

LSU will be right around the cut-off on the low end (44/45) but to get in for sure without any doubt they'd probably still need 1 more win today over Florida or they'd need some of their countable victories to improve significantly (5+ spots) in the rankings over the next 2 weeks. Both Ole Miss and South Carolina will come up some and they need North Florida and George Washington to win their conference tournaments and Tulane probably to either win CUSA or at least make the finals. Compared to where LSU was just a few days ago I'm sure they'd take these options over having no options.

Now 5-2 Gomez. Nice run by Ole Miss but it looks like it'll come up just short. Dropping the doubles point hurt.
