Tennessee leads 4-2. Libietis came back from 4-0 down in the 2nd to take it in a TB.
Kentucky jumped Notre Dame in dubs winning 6-1 at 1 and 6-2 at 2. They were also up 4-2 on 3
ND now leading on all 4 singles courts on, court 2 had a long tie break.
3-1 ND and they lead on #2 as well.
Mississippi State dropped just 6 games total at the 1-5 singles positions against Jackson State. #6 singles was a little closer with State winning 6-1, 7-5.
Kentucky hanging around a bit with Lopez taking the 2nd set at 2 to force a 3rd and with Yates taking the 1st set at 6. Lai is down a set and a break at 5.
Vandy in deep trouble vs nwestern. Vandy off year?
Tennessee is going to beat Elon but Fickey retires at #6 singles and it looks like Schipanski will lose at 5.
Uk Could lose to Duke but Thats okay
Jordi Arconada officially on the roster at aTm - would think he'd be playing middle of the lineup - maybe as high as 3 - what say you aTm fans?
Jordi Arconada has to sit until mid to late Feb due to playing in the exclusion period. I guess it depends how the team is going up until then. Also Jackson Withrow is unlikely to play for a while due to a wrist injury.
Wanted to push this over from the Kick-Off Weekend thread to here since it'll get buried in other posts. 1 coach must have not got the memo about putting Arkansas 13th and instead put them 12th.
Miss State maybe look better. Nc State win is a solid one. Uk we will See okay they ve lost some game s but good opponents. And u still Not trust ole miss
Poor weekend for the SEC. Kentucky, A&M, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, auburn all losing. Only SC and LSU get decent wins.
auburn today got one back but vols lost another one, especially Vols and UK having an off year is really hurting the depth of SEC.
Florida took one back also.
A&M just now in lead vs San Diego.
Overall i only see UGA at getting a Top16 before NCAAS begin.
Think A&M and Ole Miss will be back around 16 by the time NCAA's come around
Please let Memphis and Ole Miss make it to the same regional again. Haha.
I think you have to put Ole Miss up in the top 15. If they get better at doubles then they could crack top 10 by season's end. Impressed with the new freshman from Sweden. He beat a guy today who has won a lot of matches for his team and is a senior. Yesterday he beat a junior. Last guy who played No. 3 for them as a freshman ended being a 3-time All-American in both singles and doubles. Not a bad start.
well Ole Miss took great hearts
in ITA Indoors they will get Oklahoma or UVA in 1st round (if rankings go out as we expect), in probably consolation round they will at least have a chance to get one win. (probably will not play Penn State there, 15th place not played out :-?
out of conference they will only play Baylor in march at Home. Could be interesting. Ole Miss has a chance there i think
overall after first real weekend:
#1 Scholtz can beat everyone
#2 Lindmark got 2-come-from behind wins vs good opponents
#3 Hansson impressed the whole nation this weekend
so the Top3 looking good
#4 Kallberg, was 0-1 and one unfinished, but he played #2 last year, also he lost the most, he should be able to get .500 at #4 over the season as he was 14-6 at 3 and 4 in his sophomore season and 10-10 on #4 in his freshman ! He should just be fine on #4
#5 Babic not really impressed so far, losing both without a set maybe the ll should put
#6 'Jorge on it winning both his matches this weekend
so the lower 6 are good average so far i think.
Only big minus is the Doubles at the moment but 2 playing freshman plus Scholtz that never had any big time to train with the others this fall and winter. Maybe they can right the ship there.
With Kentucky off to a 2-4 start and with Illinois and Ohio State up next which will likely drop them to 2-6 it appears Kentucky has starting searching for some extra wins to start positioning themselves to at least finish above .500.
UK has added the following matches to its schedule:
-Feb 14, vs. Northern Kentucky at 1 p.m. ET
-Feb. 14 vs. Morehead State at 5 p.m. ET.
8:27 AM - 26 Jan 2015
They already had Samford and Lipscomb on the schedule for 2/22 so they should be able to get back to 6-6 after these additions.
In other news Kentucky now has just 1 Jerry Lopez listed on the roster after having 2 with 2 different spellings listed for months.
Well the teams that expect but miss the Indoors often have 2 weeks in a row free so enough to schedule. You mostly get lower teams and uk maybe need that now as they cannot expect to go 8-4 and better in sec play.
I wonder what was going on with Hunter Reese to lose 6-0 6-1 to Kadhe.
He did get a set before dropping the 2nd and 3rd by that score - Igor Smelyanski on the other hand did go down 6-0 6-1. Looking at the scores against Oklahoma State it definitely looks like they weren't motivated to be out there. I actually thought Tennessee would win the regional going away and with the exception of Libietis everyone else came up well short over the weekend.

I thought Ole Miss was probably the most impressive team from the conference over the weekend - coming back from 3-0 down to Florida and 2-1 down to South Carolina. If they can find a way to get their doubles shored up they'll be dangerous against anyone in the conference with Scholtz likely to run the table at 1 and Hansson looking awfully strong at 3.
Overall Georgia is still the team to beat but right I'd put Ole Miss at 2, Texas A&M 3, and Florida 4.
amazing Florida got many more votes as Ole Miss from SEC coaches. Kentucky the coaches saw really well. Vols they had thought better
but season still long. Home-Road games ahead.
UGA is much better as the rest right now. UGA will play USC/UCLa next that will show us how good all three teams are. The luck on Georgias schedule , they play Aggies and Rebels at home and only ve to travel to Gators, Wildcats, Vols... Even SC and Vanderbilt are at home...big year to play them all at home... (will not bring any extra ranking points...by the way)
florida also will play the home series vs USC/UCLA, will be interesting how Florida can regroup after the Ole Miss breakdown.
TopDawg: I think you're right after last weekend, I would say Georgia, then Ole Miss. It's still early though. Ole Miss gets Tennessee, Florida, Vandy at home, but travels to Georgia, A&M and Mississippi State. I think if they can shore up the doubles then it will be hard to beat them. Scholtz is going to win. Lindmark and Hansson are both playing well, and Jorge is a pretty good six right now.
What about South Carolina? Better than Tennessee, better than A&M and better than Ole Miss. Unlucky with the cramping cost the Gamecocks a trip to the national indoor tournament.
Cocks deserved to win or could ve won. But it is to easy to say they are better as ole miss. They lost 2-4 so even without cramping no one can tell if he would have won it. And #4-singles had Rebels leading 4-3 in 3rd Set. Yeah it was pretty close and great match but Thats all.
1. Georgia 166
2. Texas A&M 153
3. Tennessee 136
4. Florida 135
5. Ole Miss 96
6. Mississippi State 87
7. Vanderbilt 86
8. South Carolina 79
9. Kentucky 78
10. Auburn 68
11. LSU 42
12. Alabama 35
13. Arkansas 14
I want not to change the whole outlook here, it was only ITA Kickoff weekend, that not makes a whole season also it give s a good outlook
1 clearly UGA, tough to see any loss in SEC play
2 right now it is tough to keep Ole Miss out of 2nd place, but I still go with Florida, remember, 1 tiebreak and UF could have swept Ole Miss 4-0
3 Ole Miss
4 Texas A&M, I see them more talented as both ahead, but things are not going right at the moment
5 Vols, do not give too much on their kickoff results, they still have Liebitis and Reese in singles and doubles, they lost very close to Columbia, and Columbia qualified after it
6 South Carolina, had a good start, but could not close it vs Ole Miss
7 MSU, do not forget them, they had a real chance vs California
8 Vanderbilt, had a good win vs UK, but lost to USF and before lost to Northwestern, not too great
9 Kentucky, right now only here, but they had 3 tough 3-4 losses vs tough opponents, things can change
10 LSU, their win over USD looks nice, and they kept TCU in a fight, Daigle is a nice addition, Simpson on #2 is monster, Butsch/Arias/Freund can play with whomever on #5 and #6 (Arias played 2 or 3 mostly last season with .500 avg, Butsch mostly played 4 with over .500 avg)
11 Auburn, they ve some talent in their team, maybe could make a push over UK and Vanderbilt and LSU as season goes on
12 Arkansas, had a good fight vs Northwestern, a team even Vanderbilt lost
13 Alabama, are they real better as Arkansas? They looked helpless vs Oregon…I ve drop them…
Rebels sweep weekly awards, Scholtz player of week and Hansson freshman of week. MAybe i even would put Lindmark in as player of week.
South Carolina couldn't finish the match and Ole Miss did. It would seem the Rebels were in better condition and they capitalized.
So a pretty poor start to the year for Kevin Lai.
UK looks really weak right now, their bottom 3 or at leat bottom 2 cannot win anything, and the Top2 or 3 will allways have their trouble also they are hanging in. Doubles was a coin-flip, but singles....UK even in danger of missing ncaas if this season goes on...?
Ole Miss just scheduled a February, 9th match Vs Troy. (tune up or National Indoors)
Serves that program right quite frankly.
Troy has two strong players at 1 and 2, Dias and Ndayishimye.
I believe Ndayishimye showed up this January and shows as a sophomore on their roster. He may have lost a year of eligibility playing Futures tour. Made it to around #850, former world #27 ITF juniors. Dias is a junior transfer from Texas Tech with a similar resume. Maybe I'll go watch.
If troy get s a good Form it could be close with ole miss still winning maybe
Will be a good warm-up for Ole Miss to get ready for Indoors.
Dias is a stud as is their #2
Florida giving all vs Usc. Looking good also still down.
MSU and TTech playing only 2 singles matches at once. Tech took the first two.
I don't think I've ever seen just 2 at a time in a college match before.
Miss St had the SEC Tourney I think 2 years ago and they had some rain come in and one of the matches had to play 2 at a time and it ended up taking a good 5 hours to play it out.
Real bad Start here for msu. Programm really fast went down
uf uga aggies doing a Lot to restore sec pride.
plus sc did great yesterday
State only has two indoor courts, and they aren't very good.
Sec is back. After this weekend.
Lsu vs wisconsin rained out. Please stop sec from having no indoor court s
LSU's new tennis facility is under construction and should be ready for next season - 12 outdoor and 6 indoor courts.
That's why certain teams don't agree to go to LSU. Too much of a risk of rain for such a long trip. Waste of time for Wisconsin
And money i think
LSUs new indoor courts may be available before this seasons end.
Wisconsin did get their match in yesterday vs Tulane.
Good signs for lsu.
Kentucky s home loss vs penn State looks worse and worse
