    3-2 UGA now w/ two matches mid-3rd-set

UGA will probably pull off another close one like they did against UF and OSU

but...these last few weeks (with UVA losing many dubs pts and coming down to the final singles match vs Duke, UGA being on the ropes multiple times as above, and OSU losing to UGA) indicate to me that there is only one team that is likely to cruise into the NCAA semis without major drama

UVA, UGA, and OSU better be on point in the rd of 16 and quarters if they want to join USC there...plenty of other talented teams out there not afraid of these guys

Interesting side note for serious college tennis geeks only. That's me. Florida men practiced Saturday afternoon indoors at The Racquet Club of Memphis before heading to Oxford. Memphis men were playing MTSU outside across the parking lot when they got there. Florida got out of their van, grabbed their gear and went straight inside, never even looked in the direction of the college match in progress. All business.

My guess is that they wingslay it kt unless it addct their doubles or angles rankings. I do know that both coaches must agree to stop the match

Alford should not be benched after one loss. He had a tremendous fall, beat several quality players in the dual matches he was allowed to play, and should be playing over Deip, Federhofer, and possibly Newman!

I think Jackson had to do something to break the losing streak- it worked! Now it will be interesting to see if he stays with this line up. Diep has lost so much I don't see how Coach can put him back out there. He should put Alford at five and alternate Federhofer and Butz at 6. Butz needs to go back in the doubles line up, he's the best doubles player on the team.

SEC Schedule for Friday March 30th

Georgia/Kentucky is the showcase match of the day. They are the only 2 teams that are still undefeated in conference play. It should be a highly competitive match that I see Georgia pulling out at the bottom of the lineup. I think we get the doubles point and get wins from Singh, Taboada, Pasha, and Pieters with several 3 setters for a 5-2 win. Spencer has done very well against Quigley (3-0 record) but he just isn't playing well enough of late to pick him. Rossi/Doumbia will be a rematch of the finals of the SEC Indoors which Rossi won 6-3 6-4.

Georgia hosts Kentucky at 5pm est – Live Stats/Blog/Video
Florida hosts Auburn at 5pm est - Live Stats - Florida 6-1
South Carolina hosts Alabama at 5pm est - Live Stats - South Carolina 5-2
Mississippi State hosts LSU at 3pm est - Live Stats - Miss State 5-2
Ole Miss hosts Arkansas at 3pm est – Live Stats & Live Blog - Ole Miss 7-0
    Tennessee hosts Vanderbilt at 3pm est – Live Stats/Blog/Video - Tennessee 5-2

Kentucky just blew us out in the doubles point winning 8-2 at 1 and 8-4 at 2. We had match point on 3 but they stopped playing after UK clinched.

Rain delay in Athens - they are moving indoors - not sure who that will favor. Doumbia was moved up to #2 singles and led Musialek 4-1. All other courts on serve. Of course only 4 indoors courts so that will slow things down as well.

Vandy/UT tied at 2 with a 3rd set coming up at 1, tied at 2 all in the 3rd set at 2, Vandy up a set at 6 but UT serving for the 2nd set. According to UT Blog it has started to rain so they'll be heading inside to complete the matches.

Back outside in Athens - evidentally the rain coming in has held off. Doumbia takes the 1st set 6-1 at 2. Jomby serving for the 1st set on 4 for UK. Everything else still on serve late in the 1st set.

Yet another weather delay in Athens - Georgia leads 3-2. Spencer/Quigley 3 all in the 3rd with Quigley serving at 0-30. Spencer led 3-1. Taboada/Jomby heading to a 3rd set.

WOW - Kentucky upsets Georgia 4-3 with Jomby thumping Taboada 7-1 in the 3rd set tiebreaker. Both Spencer and Taboada were up a break in the 3rd and neither could hold on. Disappointing loss.

Excellent win for Kentucky. Played to their full potential. And like I outlined before the year began the key for Kentucky is Quigley beating other top players in big matches.

The match was stopped 5 different times for weather delays so that definitely stopped the flow a bit but Kentucky came through when it counted. Hats off to them.

Disappointing loss, and some weird scores in some of those matches, especially Sadio's.

This just further emphasizes the need for UGA to really tighten up the doubles lineup. It's been a couple years now where doubles has been a real liability, and I just think your odds of beating a top 10 team without the doubles point is going to be slim. They pulled it off against Ohio State, but I don't think many people are going to be putting money on Georgia taking 4 singles from teams like USC or Virginia, even with their great depth.

It's a disappointing loss, and one they probably should have won, but hopefully they learn from it and come back strong, win the SEC Championship and head into May with some momentum.

SEC Schedule for Sunday April 1st

On paper it looks like it should be blowout Sunday but the one with some potential is the Tennessee/Kentucky matchup. Kentucky is riding high from their upset of Georgia while Tennessee has won 4 straight and has been playing well recently. If Tennessee can find a way to get the doubles point they could make it interesting because you figure Kentucky will probably have a bit of a letdown after the emotional high in Athens. I threw in my predictions for each as well.

    Tennessee hosts Kentucky at 1pm est – Live Stats/Blog/Video - Kentucky 5-2
    Georgia hosts Vanderbilt at 1pm est – Live Stats/Blog/Video - Georgia 6-1
Florida hosts Alabama at 1pm est - Live Stats - Florida 7-0
South Carolina hosts Auburn at 1pm est - Live Stats - Auburn 5-2
Mississippi State hosts Arkansas at 2pm est - Live Stats - Miss State 6-1
Ole Miss hosts LSU at 2pm est – Live Stats & Live Blog - Ole Miss 6-1

About to start against Bama and I can't figure out todays lineup

    1d- bob/spencer
    2d- Diep/Federhoffer
    3d- Butz/Carleton

    1s- bob
    2s- nas
    3s- Carleton
    4s - Newman
    5s- Federhoffer
    6s- Diep

I get it that Bama is pretty weak and we probably could win 4 lines if we let the fans vote on the lineup, but why are we not playing Alford at all? He's the tebow of this team...all he does is win.

Both Georgia and Florida win 7-0. Auburn barely got by South Carolina 4-3. UT/UK had about an hour rain delay so they still have a ways go to. Ole Miss up 3-0 on LSU and looking good to get the W.
Mississippi State really geting pushed today by Arkansas. Several 3rd sets

Probably a good match to pull Nas if he needs rest. His matches tend to finish last or close to it. No sense wasting his body in this match as it can't really help his ranking.

I agree about Alford, and it turns out he did play singles Friday and Sunday and won both. If you look at the singles line ups that are posted and then who actually plays, it almost always changes. Do you think the coach is trying to keep the other teams guessing on who he sticks out there?

    One of three things...

1- he sets a lineup optimistically that an injured player will give it a go
    2- sports info messes up
3- intentionally does it to play mind games

One thing that it does, it keeps any other coach from contesting his lineup at the NCAA tournament. If you take a guy who has always played 3 and move him to 5 it looks like you are sandbagging, but if you rotate guys all over the place all year then it makes it almost impossible to contest it.

    It's a great stategy.

If someone gets pulled from the lineup then everybody has to move up in the same order. Alford must have been listed 7th and Butz 8th so they moved up to 5th and 6th. They couldn't have played Alford or Butz unless someone sat.
