I was there and it was VERY close in singles. If Lindmark wins, Ole Miss probably wins the match. Gowda was serving up 4-3 in the second and Hansson was on serve in the second when Georgia clinched. Lindmark was up 5-2 serving in the first set and Kallberg was up 4-2 in the first set.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Better luck next time Ole Miss.

A&M is up 3-2 but Georgia leads 5-4 in the 3rd on court 1 (on serve) and 5-3 on court 2 in the 3rd. It has been on rain delay for over an hour now.

Jeremy Efferding clinches the title. Great season for him.

Two hour weather delay, and Efferding and Vinsant come out to serve at 4-5 and 3-5, respectively, in the third set, serving to stay alive. They each hold, break, hold, with Efferding clinching and Vinsant leading 6-5 when abandoned. Crazy stuff, but I have seen a lot of tennis momentum shifts after rain delays, e.g. Lindsay Davenport on fire in Wimbledon against Venus Williams, up a set and a break when it started raining, then losing in three sets.

Harrison Adams still ranked above Jeremy Efferding in the last rankings. It'll be a complete sham if Adams gets into the individual tournament over Efferding. Although the win over Smith should do it for Efferding.

Great win for A&M. It woud be great if Efferding got into the tournament. He has missed out on what would probably have been a few wins because of SEC rules. He is a senior, so this is his last chance.

Yeah. Before today he didn't complete like 8 straight matches or sonething. That's gotta be really frustrating for a high level competitor of any sport.

total crap of sec rules, also they may not play out every match until the end, they should play out the sets when started...so if u are already in a 3rd set..play it until the end...
(if match not started ,, only 3 indoor courts or sth like that, u may not need to start the matches, but just to give the top 2 or 3 of a lineup a chance to compete for ncaas.!!! => it just weakens the field...some lower college Top-Players could get easier, as they mostly play out their matches...)

tough break for Georgia, they just doomed their ncaa chances yesterday, probably stay at 7 or 8 or 9 until seasons end, which means a Elite8 match vs Oklahoma or Baylor.(instead of Illinois/A&M)

We need to get the word out to top recruits to avoid wussy conferences that do this to their players, with the most influential coaches in the conference being in favor of it to boot.

Right now, Georgia is projected to be at #7. If that holds and no other rankings change (a fairly loose assumption) they go into the tournament, then they'd be looking at the following potential match ups:
    • Sweet 16 vs. Texas, the #10 seed
    • Elite 8 vs. Baylor, the #2 seed (or UNC, the #15 seed in the case of an upset)
    • Final 4 vs. Texas A&M, the #3 seed (or TCU, the #6 seed)
    • Tournament Finals vs. Oklahoma, the #1 seed (or Illinois, the #4 seed or Virginia, the #5 seed)

I'd say all of those are still winnable matches, though a quarterfinal match against Baylor in Waco would probably be the toughest.

you can beat ayone on a given day, but this would be hard, Texas,Baylor, A&M, Oklahoma 4 in a row.

Feel bad for Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss. He was beating No. 1 ranked Alvarez when the match clinched and he went undefeated in the SEC until he lost Saturday. He had other matches that didn't finish, so his ranking just stayed basically the same all year. He will miss out on NCAAs. And he would have a chance to do well I think.

He allways played under the Radar but playing 2 in a top15 team with winning a lot should get a chance. ..

I know of many deserving players to be in the individual draw but don't make it every year. There's also some players who make it based on their fall results and get it still posting a crappy or mediocre at best spring. Lindmark is a very good player and nice kid, but no tears shed here over the selection process.

Efferding is in !!! but he is the only aggies player in singles....quite bad for a top5 team? Oklahoma has 3, Baylor has 2, and TEXAS has also 3....these rankings are sometimes not right in my eyes; illinois has 1 player selected..Ohio State has 2..even Chris Diaz is in :rolleyes

hmm Scholtz/Babic in for doubles, thats quite surprising for me, SEC has 8 doubles selected for the big show, thats heavy load.

Interesting - no Gosea in either singles or doubles. The Illini get one singles player, and one doubles team in the draw.

The Master lineup for Ole Miss has new pairings at #1 and #3 doubles. No Babic?

    Scholtz/Lindmark
    Hansson/Kallberg
    Hamilton/Gowda

Looks like Ole Miss is going for broke trying to win at 1 and 2 and not worrying about 3. They're only 13-12 in doubles so they needed to do something - can't afford to drop the doubles point in the NCAAs and expect to win.

Don't be surprised if they switch in Babic at three doubles. He's better then Gowda in doubles.

Aggies are up 3-2 but last two matches are down to the wire. Skude serviced for it and with his serve, gotta think he closes it but he doesn't. 5-5 on Line 1. Line 6 in a third set TB.

Don't think that Jakob Sude had any match points when he was serving at 5-4 at #1 singles. Nicolai Ferrigno had one match point when he was returning at 4-5 at #6 singles but hit tape and fell back on his side.

will not get better next year as the other bigs like OSU; OU, Baylor, UVA, UCLA, USC all will stay at their level or even get better
even UNC and Wake Forest should minimum stay at their level.
SEC loses players like Scholtz, Liebietis, Pasha, Ollert...

I saw where Tommy Paul signed with UGa, but it seems like he has had some great success the last couple of weeks on the circuit and is having a nice run in the FO juniors. Has he said he is definitely attending UGa in the fall or is it still possible he could turn pro?

The choice is not between four years and zero years in college. Amazing how we have to keep saying the same things in these conversations, over and over.

Bertran transfers to USF, huge get for USF and they should be odds on favorites for AAC next year. No playing time so smart move.

Agreed. His resume looks pretty good too, even his freshman year results where pretty good when Manny let him play.

Noticed he's in Turkey and qualified there. Also in the dubs draw with his countryman and future USF teammate Cid. Wonder how much he had to do with convincing Bertran to transfer? LOL

Side note. Andrew Watson from Memphis qualified in the same tournament Bertan and Cid are playing in Turkey this week.
