Well, now that we've seen the draw shape up, what do you think the semis will look like? Here are my predictions:

    Federer v. Grosjean
    Henman v. Roddick

    Williams v. Mauresmo
    Sprem v. Sharapova

Federer v. Grosjean and Henman v. Roddick on the men's side. S. Williams v. Mauresmo and Davenport v. Sharapova for the women.

I'm going to take a chance hear and go with Hewitt/Grosjean and Henman/Roddick on the men's side. Something just tels me that Hewitt has enough game to take Federer out. It will probably take him 5 sets to do it though. On the woman's side, I don't expect any surprises in the top half: Williams/Mauresmo. However in the bottom half, I predict a Sprem/Sugiyama semifinal. (Sugiyama beats Sharapova in 3).

I hope you're right on the Hewitt prediction. As much as I love watching Club Fed, seeing Lleyton break through would be awesome. I wouldn't know who to cheer for if it were a Hewitt v. Henman final. On the women's side, the dream match up would be Sharapova v. Serena. No chance at all Sugiyama upsets Sharapova. Sugiyama simply doesn't have enough weapons to compete, especially on grass.

    Ah hell, I'll go for it . . .

    Hewitt vs. Grosjean
    Ancic vs. Roddick

I too think Federer will have a hard time with Hewitt. He hasn't had to face anyone who gets balls back in play like Hewitt on grass the past couple of years, and he may get impatient. If he can use the slice to force Hewitt to give the ball pace--as well as pick on Hewitt's forehand when he gets the chance--Federer will beat him. But Hewitt's got a real shot here.

For the women, I don't really care too much right now. Would like to see Sprem in there, Davenport, maybe Sharapova.

Sharapova has gotten very nervous on the big stage before, so I look for a solid Sugiyama to take her out. Really, Sharapova will take herself out with unforced errors. Look for Sprem to beat Davenport, so it will be Sugiyama and Sprem in the semi's. I expect Sprem to make it to the finals.

Serena will beat Golovin, and I'm not sure about the CRAP and Petrova. Sometimes Petrova plays great, other times not so great. Anyway, I expect the CRAP to make it through, and for Serena to beat her and make it to the finals. Mauresmo should beat the rest of the chumps on her side of the draw, but will probably lose to Serena in the semis. Look for Serena to play Sprem in the finals, and look for Serena to get some revenge for Venus and win her third straight Wimbledon title.

I think Henman will beat Ancic, but not easily. It is never easy with Tim. Roddick will destroy Schalken, but will somehow lose against Tiger Tim in the semi's.

The best match of the tournament could be Federer vs. Hewitt. I expect a tough, close, tight 4 set victory for Federer. My upset pick on this half is Mayer to beat Grosjean. ESPN hasn't shown me one second of this kid, and I couldn't pick him out of a police line-up, but Grosjean has choked at this stage before. So, look for Henman to beat Federer somehow, someway, and give the British something to finally cheer about.

Basically what Aonex said, with Henman and Sharapova winning.

    Godbless Henman!!! :D

Ballmachine, I think those big stage jitters are behind her... especially after her win in Birmingham. Amy Frazier has a similar, consistent tennis game like Sugiyama's, and Maria managed to get through. Now if only someone could upset Serena....

Henman beat Andy this year on the hard courts, and I see him taking him out again, especially on grass. Ah heck, just to throw the English a bone for once, would be nice to see Tim go all the way... even at the expense of one of my faves, Hewitt (but more likely, Fed).
