Yeah, you're right: Palm Springs is a small town. Often small town and racist go hand in hand.

Let's face it, if Serena wasn't a self-centered a-hole of a raging pile of doo-doo, she wouldn't be so hated.

How could you know what those people were thinking? Or, is it just a given with you that every white person is by definition a racist? Having been in that crowd, I still have a tough time today breaking down the crowd by age and race. But, apparently, you who were not there can conclude without much difficulty that everyone there was secretly a racist.

As to the other players, I don't remember Chanda Rubin ever having been booed at IW. I saw her play at least twice at IW, the last time versus Steffi in 1999. If I remember correctly, she was also black and female. Not a single boo. Go figure.

A couple of years ago, I attended a match at IW featuring Asia Muhammad. Also black, also female, but the reaction to her was nothing like the reaction to Serena. The crowd was excited to see her play; they embraced her talent.

So, here's one more side to your picture: Could it be that people just don't like Serena because of her tennis, her behavior, or the actions of her family? So, when anything like the outburst at the US Open happens, they don't cut her much slack. You know it is possible not to like someone for reasons other than the color of their skin.

    Race is not an issue.

Serena is a disgusting, vile, dirty, filthy pig.

    That is all.

Famous stars, Chanda and Asia. You forgot Alexandra Stevenson.

Don't like someone -> don't show up for the match. Don't sit there on your old asses and boo a black teenage girl.

You keep saying you were there. I told you there were others there too who have told a very different story. Your sample may be small, theirs may be small too. But no reason why I should believe you over them.

Line judges beware: Serena Williams now owns a cricket bat

Line judges beware: Serena Williams now owns a cricket bat
    By Chris Chase

What do you give a woman who has everything, including a temper problem? A cricket bat, apparently.

During Thanksgiving weekend in Barbados, Serena Williams was honored at a promotional kick-off for the ICC WT20 West Indies 2010, a four-team cricket tournament in desperate need of a less-unwieldy name. Organizers presented the 11-time Grand Slam champ with a commemorative cricket bat because apparently they don't get a U.S. Open feed down in Barbados.

Williams was in the Caribbean for an exhibition series against Caroline Wozniacki. One day after the ceremony, she was fined $82,500 and put on a two-year probation by Grand Slam officials for her infamous U.S. Open tirade.

Of all the cricket-related things to give Serena, why a bat? I'm not saying Serena is going to use it for throat-shoving purposes upon a linejudge who makes a bad call, but I'm not saying she won't either. Couldn't they have given her a wicket or a bail or a stump? How about a Barbados cricket jersey or a signed picture of famed cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan? Anything besides a bat.

No one told a different story, except Richard Williams.

Joel Drucker, contributor to both ESPN and Tennis Magazine, wrote an article last year in which he reviewed the incident. In that article, he stated that no one every reported a single racial slur to the tournament officials after the match, not even Richard Williams. He also reported in that article that a person affiliated with the LA Times who was sitting in the same section as Venus and her father did not hear a racial slur.

Richard pulled the race card (a week later) so that he and his family would not have to take responsibility for their part in the whole incident. Like father, like daughter.

According to the reverse racists on these boards, it is impossible for any person to not like a black person without it being about race, even if that black person is a racist themselves and spits out hatred about everyone.

Are you saying other poster's opinions are wrong and yours are right? You may think she's all in perfect shape and beautiful but that just you. Personally, I think she's overweight and not attractive at all. There's plenty of WTA players that I think(my opinion) a look like supermodels when standing next to Serena.

There's no need to get sensitive here, if people think Serena is not pleasing to their eyes, just accept it.

Don't forget she dates Common, a famous American rapper and actor.

That's because they don't win grand slams and defeat your favorites in the process. They are non-threating for now. Let any of them start winning slams and the hate will begin. It's easy to dismiss racism as nonsense when you're the one that being racist.

Don't be silly. Whether or not a person is inshape isn't an opinion. Everybody knows what an inshape person looks like. I never said that Serena is perfect or beautiful. That's irrelevant. Show me a recent picture of Serena and tell me what part on her is fat. Serena never entered a beauty contest, she's a tennis player and she does it well, the slams that she owns proves that. But you can't attack her on her achievements on the tennis court so you talk about her weight and attractiveness. c'mon. I know you guys are smarter than this.

This may be news to you but now all black people in the media and sports are strong or brave enough to speak their mind and stand up to racism. For instance; A few years ago the NAACP was organizing a boycott of South Carolina in an effort to get that state to stop flying the confederate flag over it's capitol building. Serena and Venus agreed and refused to play there. Tiger Woods would not go along with this. I believe his response was " I'm a golfer, that's their deal". Also; Your comment on Indian Wells is misleading. It is important to say that the reason why the crowd booed Serena was because they felt that Venus defaulted on purpose in the previous round. So because Venus defaulted, Serena was booed. But like a true champion Serena still won that title. Serena showed the world a true lesson in being focused and victorious in the face of people who want to see you fail because of an assumption they made about her Sister and her family.

LOL Blake is one of the most liked players on tour and on this board even though he has one of the most braindead games of all time. Reasons being he is actually polite and well-mannered. If he had the game to win a slam he'd be far more loved than he is now. Tsonga and Monfils have been tipped to win slams by many on this board and a lot of people still want them to do so -- though Monfils' antics can touch a nerve with some people.

FFS Andy Murray is the most hated player on this board and he's paler than the lineswoman was whilst being threatened by Serena.

You can keep thinking we're all white supremacists here looking to **** off any black person who steps foot on a tennis court, leads to laughs all around.

No the hate is for her disrespectful attitude toward every other player. Every time she loses she refuses to admit she was beaten. She believes she was cheated out of many matches that she lost. She is a poor sport and sore loser I cannot believe that people talk about Federer's arrogance when Serena's is 500% of his. She also cares about money too much. Anyone see her 10K earrings that fell apart and she literally stopped play to pick up the diamonds? She does not care about tennis much. She was raving in an article how they charged her 92K. First of all she made way more money than that getting to the Semis. And she believes people conspired against her to not win the open that is BS. For example, if Nadal went and threatened a lines person he would have been given a point penalty as well (picked him because its never going to happen). She apologized falsely and indirectly as well. She still believes that they owe her an apology for following the rules. Stubborn and disrespectful is why so many people do not like her. Racism is far from the reason (except the racist folks of course) but I would consider her my second favorite behind Henin if she did not think that shes such hot stuff and that the world revolves around her.

I would respond to the last few posts but I've become bored already with the whole subject. Let's hope that the entire professional tennis world learned a major lesson from Serena's handling of this situation because if anybody repeats this in any capacity I'll be expecting the posters on this board to demand his/her head.

I would rather read about how lucky she feels that, because of who she is and her ranking, she got a break and is still allowed to even be in the sport, let alone play the big tournaments. She even gets careful consideration to avoid sexism and racism scrutiny. She was cleared to play USO doubles finals, avoiding penalizing Venus indirectly. She made $300-400K at the USO that could have been stripped or denied. That's all still not enough for her. She has to make it that she is "the victim".

Serena is overweight and that's just how I feel about her, not b/c of her achievements. She has a big butt, huge thigh, very wide person for her height. If you think different, then i consider you have BAD taste in women(my opinion). You ask me to post her picture is a bad idea b/c it only gives other people oppotunity to explain why's she overweight. I know many people in here believe she's overweight(except you).

Does it feel good to have the anonymity of this board and the internet as a whole to allow you to hurl, what clearly amounts to, racist rants?

Also, i would put the intelligence of many a hip hop rapper agaisnt yours any day! If you don't know, you better ask somebody!

Just wondering: who has earned more money; J-Z or you?

    Hmm... let me guess.

What in that statment was racist? Serena fans are idiots (not just the black ones), they know nothing about tennis and only started watching the sport because a black girl is pwning all the lily white girls in a white sport (taken from your buddy over at the hip hop forum).

If you wanna see racism, goto the hip hop forum (the ops 2nd link, still dont think you realize that) and read the comments.

Hmm, so how were you referring to race in your previous rant? Well, whats the common denominator (preceived or real) about the subjects you raised and put in a derrogatory light...

Serena - black: Hip-hop - black: Serena fans (who never watched tennis before and want to see her beat up on defenseless white girls) - black...

    Its kinda obvious.

And two wrongs don't make a right!
