Recently I have simply astounded myself with my new volleying skills. Previously, I have been all baseline. I would only come to net to get a drop shot and still sometimes retreat. One day, I randomly started volleying and winning. I want to S/V, and I have tried before for a change, but I have never been able to do it. One of two (or 3) things happens: 1- I miss my serve so all is lost. 2 - I cannot handle first volley and either net it, sail it, etc. (3 is I win point on serve, lol) I don't know what I should be doing differently to be successful when s/v. I really want to learn how, it just never works out. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving s/v??

Use same grip for all of your volleys.

You really have to watch the ball.

Hit your volley in front of your front hip.

Not if you don't lose any service points in the tiebreaks! So just hold serve, it's as easy as that.
