Hitting with a 5.0 player in a casual situation is not nearly the same as practicing with a top 10 player in front of people though.

I can make no excuses for BT's wierd, lackdaisical style of play in his vid.
Opposite of hitting with a top 10 player, he's hitting with a equally disinterested player, possibly too tired or bored to care.
It's like, they totally ignore they're being filmed. And ignore most points of good tennis play, too.

Watched your latest series of serve videos. While there's no harm in getting your legs stronger, I don't think that's why you aren't hopping more on your serve. I believe it is a timing and form issue, and that you still aren't comfortable going forward and up to the ball. You bend your legs plenty at the moment and your form doesn't look bad, but you don't seem comfortable to go aggressively forward. You are still tossing the ball to a position that will make it difficult to jump forward into the serve.

I think you are going to have to force yourself to do some drills working just on a hop to get a feel for a different timing and motion. My guess is that you'll have to accept your serve getting worse for a while to build in the new habit.

Your serve isn't at all bad, but like most of us rec players, it could be improved.

It might be that BT is a teaching pro who is a little rusty. ;)

Okay I asked for any tips about getting more leg drive on the serve, other people asked to watch some groundies of mine so I threw my Iphone on a back post hitting some balls with a friend. I go about 70% in a situation like that. As Rufus hinted that I spend 6 to 8 hours on the court a day. I don't know everything about teaching tennis because I am young plus nobody knows everything. I just moved to ATL in March 5263 but let's get together and hit soon. TonLars I will gladly play you too. I don't think I am cocky but I don't go around ripping people on internet messages boards, it's pointless. Either way I will gladly play 5263. I have an UT match on Sunday and Tuesday but other than that if I am free unless on the court

I worked on this with a teaching pro that I work with and he knows that I don't get broken often and was wondering why I even wanted to mess with it. I am messing with it because my serve is not what it was but if I am not getting broken that much than he does not see the point. I have been using the same ball toss with all my serves and that is an issue since I am not comfortable with the timing now. I have the time to mess with it so your right it might get a bit worse before a bit better

I am ignoring that I am being filmed. I am not trying to impress anyone LeeD I just wanted some serve help and people wanted to see some other stuff. I will say this that when 5263 and I hit that I will go 100% and we will grab a beer after and probably hit again in a few weeks. If I go 100% when hitting with a buddy then I can't perform at the level I need to be in the evening.

Sounds good, we will have to work out a time soon. I would like to mention, I
don't see where anyone has ripped on you. Posters like tonlars just commented
on what they felt they observed. tonlars is a good example of someone who has
more winning success than his form suggests as well. I don't think he looks bad
    at all
, but I would not have guessed he is as successful as he is frm vid. I'm probably
another who wins more than my appearance would suggest.

    I know communication
can be very tough on here, and just wanted you to know folks are not being hostile
to you and actually have been quite accommodating on the whole given
your replies. I hope you don't mind if I bring my 14yr old along. He watched the
vid and wants to play you a set too.
    :)

I don't think TonLars ripped me. That is his opinion and I respect that. I have grown to respect LeeD but his comments and others bothered me some. Basically the he is lazy, waste of talent, not open to learning etc. I think everyone plays and hits a different way depending on the situation. If I had posted this is me at my best and those were the comments then so be it but I was asked to post the groundies. Either way its a mute point now IMO.

My email is btaylorjohnson @ gmail.com.
Lets get a friendly match set up. We can film it too. Of course bring your son. I might bring my cat but she does not play but likes watching. Everyone here is all good in my book

Cheetah doesn't know it, but I come across much better against 4.0 players. With him, everything is just so much faster and spinnier. It is just not possible to "scale up" your play on demand, but only by regularly playing at the higher level.

If you are above 2.5-3.0, there is very little useful information you will get on this forum. I guess you know why now~

Anyways, about your serve. The symptoms of the problem are:
    1. left foot not off the ground
    2. drifting to the left too much when you finish the serve

    FIX #1
    - Stretch your left hip more and put more of your weigh on the left foot.
    - HIT FORWARD toward your target

If you hit forward, you will naturally land like most of the pros. i.e. One foot inside the court and the right leg kicking back.

    FIX #2
If you want to keep your toss without drifting to the left, you need to rotate your body more upward instead of to the right. When you rotate more upward, you need to hit the ball at a high point too.

I think you will figure it out in no time.

Yep, keep up the smart antics. Funny you remove gentleman, since you can't be one and let it go. You have to take every opportunity to make a dig like a little
child. Guess as you get older some revert a bit to that.

You are right actually there was no need for editing because he said gentleman not men implying only one of the players is a gentleman.

I will not comment on which one it might be.

The main issue you make clear is that it is not you.
    Game on.
