I as a real Maria Sharapova addict am looking forward to Mashas comeback in Indian Wells and there are a lot of questions wether she will capture the goals in the same incredible fashion she did at the beginning of 2008 and if she added some variety to her already amazing baseline game .

Do you think Maria has improved speaking of her technique being away from the tour for 7 months and having lots of time to work on touch shots ?

I have a feeling that she has to catch up to the likes of Azarenka who really is emerging right now and having lots of momentum .

I hope Maria will be THE force on the tour in the year 2009 :)

    What are your thoughts ?

Feel free to share them and lets cheer for Maria :)

Yeah, go go Maria.:) I miss her. I hope this will be the end of that awful shoulder injury and she can dominate again. She's only playing doubles in Indian Wells though.

Well not quite 2 years... 8-9 months maybe? She had a torn rotator cuff, her shoulder has been bothering her for years. Will be interesting to see if it flares up again or if she's finally free of it.

I'm glad she's gone. Now, get rid of the Williams sisters and I'd consider watching the WTA again.

Oh, come on. I can see not liking the Wms sises. They seem kinda crude, rude and unattractive. But, Sharapova? She is a pleasure to behold. And I watch tennis for the pleasure.

I totally agree. Serena is a cow.

    Sharapova is currently ranked 23.

I feel the same.. everytime she plays, I think "maybe I'll go and watch the trees grow".. but then usually I watch the game for a little while to see if she is going to lose.

Really.. it has been a big relief for me that Sharapova was out of the game.. I really was hoping she would announce her retirement. Sorry, just really do not like her at all as a tennis player. Maybe she is nice in person, but really, as a tennis player I would love to see her retire from the game.

I hope she doesn't get injured again... it's really boring when the omost of the other players seem similar.

I'm glad Sharapova's back. We need more fighters on tour like her; so many mental midgets in the WTA. I'm hoping Sharapova can get back to form as quickly as possible to challenge the Williams sisters.

I've enjoyed the tour without her. I don't know she just grates on my nerves.

I've read that Shrieka is only going to play doubles at IW, not singles, as her shoulder is taking a long time to heal.

    Can anyone confirm?

    MORE BALLBASHERS! lol

tbh the only reason i watch WTA is for sharapova, on mute. but even then its a pain to watch

Agreed, more Sharapova, Dementieve, Ivanavic, and Chibulkova would make it more interesting.
