OMG dude. You have not really seen NY then. In fact in most of these restauraunts they dont even speak English. If you go to Coney Island then you will not even see a sign in english....its all in Russian. the same goes from every other ethnic area....in Flushing its all Korean. In Astoria its all greek.

You cannot get more authentic even if you visited the original country.

You can OMG yourself as much as you want. Have you visited the respective countries and really tried what the everyday people and the exact recipes and use local/indigenous ingredients? It's good that you roam around NYC and mingle with other immigrants but it's totally different from where they come from. Travel outside the USA and you will find out.

Didn't Seles become a US citizen to avoid governmental corruption in the now-defunct Yugoslavia?

I know Navratilova did this to gain more freedom as an international world-class athlete, but with the former Czechoslovakia.

I'm not saying she SHOULD be a citizen. Like others have mentioned, at the end of the day, its her choice, whatever her reasons. Personally, having lived that long and growing up in another country, I would change myself. I'm trying to understand and debate how she feels more "Russian" than "American" when she grew up in the states from an early age.

I say it again: Nonsense! Maria doesn't owe the US (or you) anything except the taxes she pays, so guys like you can live off of it. For the record: no one, not you, not the USA did "save" her life, but herself. It's not like she was coming from 3rd world war country as a refugee, but she had earned a spot at a famous Tennis-academy as a very skilled tennis player. There is no comparison.

Your self-centered patriotism, blaming others for not being patriotic and gratefull enough is plain anoying. You sound like a broken record.
Calling out someone because he didn't "even root for the US" is just pathetic.
I guess you're a guy who only roots for you're fellow countrymen in every sport. Poor guy. You're missing out on something here.

Can't believe a guy like him, makes me defending Sharapova...I don't even like her.

Masha is actually more marketable and viable as Russian tennis player worldwide. If she turns american, she stands to lose alot of endorsements so she will put this off til she retires. It is all about the money$$$$$$$$$$$$

actually Russia was a third world country when she came here (especially freaking Siberia where she is from). And today its the Mafia state.

And can you say "Chernobyl"??? She only lived a few miles from it and it is now one of her greatest charities. She is so thankful that she missed that terrible disaster. (thank you tennis channel).

    Serve and Volley,

People have disliked the US formally since the 50's when the book "The Ugly American" was written. You won't convince people of America's virtue on an internet message board dedicated to tennis.

Im not trying to convince anyone.

As the leader of the free world many other countries are simply jealous of the USA and will always hate it.

But to those people I always say where would the world be without the USA? Just think about it ? France would be Germany Kuwait would be Iraq and the world would be ruled by tyrants from Hitler to Stalin etc etc.

Europe and the world has no gratitude and Sharapova has none either . It makes me sick.
