It could have happened today or maybe it's a pleasant memory. Just share whatever has made you smile or feel warm inside!

Five years or so ago, I raised a litter of five Cocker Spaniel pups in a small condo with sensitive neighbors behind thin walls. Once they were up and ambulatory, I slept on the floor next to their birthing litter to try and manage any late night squealfests. When they would wake, I would often be sound asleep but they would clamber out of their "den" and walk across my chest like Lilliputians exploring Gulliver, always stopping at my face to smell and lick. This thought will stay with me forever and it gets reinforced every morning when one of them, now full grown, says "Good Morning" to me in much the same way!

I was driving to work last week and a guy in an Altima (I've noticed that Altima drivers have a tendency to be very aggressive) was riding my bumper, creeping up on me, looking annoyed, flashing his headlights, all the while I was in the middle lane of three lanes doing 5-10 over the speed limit. He finally zoomed by me indignantly. Could anything have been more pleasant than when I zoomed by him, on the side of the road with a state trooper, 15 minutes later?

There are few things in the world cuter than frolicking puppies. Did they defecate on your face while you slept?

So if revenge is a dish best served cold, you must have groundstroked him/her into oblivion, no?

First dish was served cold. As USTA captain I set him up against my best player. Destruction. The second opportunity was unexpected. I had to play the turd ball in doubles and we crushed him(them). I ended up preferring the 2nd dish a little more than the first but both are treasured memories. :)

I'll bite, why not. So the screening of Godzilla was at 1:30 and I was supposed to take the bus at 1 pm from my uni. Missed the 1 pm bus and was about to book a cab when I heard someone muttering there's a bus at 1:20. BAM, saved 10 bucks and didn't miss a minute! :D

Getting accepted to Harvard! Really didn't think I had a shadow of a chance. I was *this* close to applying binding-ED to CMU (if I had been accepted I would have been required to attend). However, due to some technicality, I was not allowed to apply ED since I had not yet turned 18. So, on a whim, I applied to Harvard and through some miracle of luck made the cut! The happiest moment of my life!

When these came back on the market. I thought it was never gonna happen. Granted, tennis takes a back seat to memories of wedding, child birth, etc., but it is a tennis forum after all (some days anyway).

Just about a month ago on my way to the gym over lunch, I had a jerk tailing me in 40mph zone on a known speed trap road. He chose to race by me right in front of the cop. I actually had to stop and let the cop pull out in front of me to chase down this idiot. Now that's instant karma.

In a league match last Thursday I beat my opponent 6-7; 7-6; 14-12. Each of the tiebreaks went over 10 points. At 11-12, my shot hit the net cord and trickled over. I probably had to save 10 or so match points in total. Of course the downside to this is that my team lost 1-4.

Kids love pedicab rides, especially bumpy little "rollercoasters" through the curbside ramps at intersections.

It's even more fun when you get grown-ups to squeal in delight from the same sensations! Last night I had three tourists from Midlands, UK on a nice long ride with plenty of glee being expressed every bump of the way. Nice tip too, and a fond farewell at their hotel!

Too many to mention. Every other day I go for a run, I walk through this small "forest" to the park i run in. In the small forest are a brother and sister pair, a few months old. Reddish brown with black noses/mouth.

They come running to me and a lot of hugs are exchanged. Always fills me with joy to see and hug them.

Then there's a new one just like them that has moved into the corner of my block. I suspect she is their sister and got pushed out of the forest. Whenever she sees me she rolls over and lets me play with her. I feed her every night. Even remembering these moments is totally joyous.

I rescued a little tiny girl, maybe 10 lbs. or so, who I befriended while on a paper route. The business stoop she and a male pal of hers hung out at was the last throw of the night and the male always challenged my car as I pulled in so I went to an all-night drive thru and got some plain burgers that I brought back and hand fed to them to break the ice. Of course, after that they greeted me warmly every night until one night I showed up and the male was missing. I felt sad leaving her alone for the next few nights but her pal didn't come back so I took her in until I found a home for her. I called her Butterfly...she was a mixed breed but she had those Papillon ears.

That's sad. What saddens me is their jealousy.

The brother and sister pair I mentioned ... actually the brother only took an interest in me after he found me petting his sister. After that he would push her aside and want all the attention. Last week, he flew into a rage and attacked his sister when i touched her. He kept attacking her as she ran away. Then there is a black and tan male also there, who began taking an interest in me after he saw me petting that red male. So when he's around he attacks the red male and pushes him away so he can jump on me. It's quick a pecking order they have there. And it has sort of upset me a bit ... but there's a new litter that has just been born.

They were born in a gutter where they would have drowned with the rain, but some good Samaritans moved them to a make-shift shed in the "forest" which is used for all the litters that are born around there. Those dear chaps were all cuddled up. They came to take a bite of my fingers one by one.

    Pleasent moment yesterday.....
Our courts were reserved for BerkelyCityOpenTournament, bad.
Other local courts were all clogged.
As I walked around the 6 courts, all singles play, I notice some varied levels of play.
Walking up to the tourney director, I asked, "I hope these guys aren't all 4.0's".
Pleasant moment. 2 of the courts were A/Open.
    Thank GOD!

Not a pleasant moment but it slapped me back to my senses this morning during my daily 2-mile run. I finished my run in 10 minutes and 20 seconds (exactly when Nina Simone's ''Sinnerman'' ended), after nearly 2 weeks of 4 beers a night.:-|

It's too bad Dedan's Playhouse was flogged mercilessly as a child, grew up as an oppressed slave licking floors for rich people, and now unhappily married living a destitute life with an ugly old woman.....:):):)
At least, that's the way he comes off on the internet.
    Dedan's, sorry.
I was watching 6 courts of competition tennis. ONE had a pretty darn good level of play, the other Open was mediocre even for 4.5.
3 courts were what I consider my peers, 4.0's.
1 court had some very beginner looking, turned out to be 3.0.
I looked at the draw sheets. They HAD not posted the A/Open yet. So, all I saw were 4.5's to be played at 1:30 (3 hours later), 4.0's, 3.5's and 3.0's currently playing.
You can understand why I was depressed watching two A/Open level players when I thought they were playing in the 4.0 division.

My Scottish couple return home tomorrow but not before promising me another autographed copy of Ian Rankin's next book to be delivered on their next vacation. Ronnie suggested he will lift the road sign designating "Ian Rankin Court" in their hometown of Cardenden, where the author grew up. I suggested a bottle of single malt Scotch instead of nicking the sign!

After my grandfathers passing 6 months ago, I inherited his tennis racquets. I didn't know what to make of it. I hadn't played a game in about 20 years and I wasn't even sure whether or not I still knew how to play. So I decided, in memory of my grandfather, I'm gonna hit a few serves at the courts near my local YMCA. I get out there and within 5 mins I'm shanking overheads everywhere but into the boxes!!! What am I doing here? Why am I wasting my time? If grandpa were here he would? ............ If Grandpa were here?.............If he was?.....................Then I began to cry. Not because of my inability to serve correctly or reminding myself of his passing but because I realized he left his racquets to me as a reminder of what we shared soo many years ago. The patriarch of my family introduced me to the game! Taught me everything he knew with passion! Dissected every match we watched together! Worked me out every summer on Long Island in the blistering heat! I LOVED TENNIS!!!! Then life got busy for grandpa and In time, I shelved "My Love". Fast forward 20 years later after a brief cry by myself on the baseline I have an epiphany! My grandfather passed down a symbol of our relationship in his will to remind me. Cheers to you grandpa! ............. And cheers to rediscovering "My Love" of Tennis.
