The famous Sherwood cup starts today in beautiful and sunny Thousand Oaks, Southern Cal.

Last year USC dominated. This year may well be the same story again. Who will come on top? USC, UCLA, Stanford?

First round results (matches not finished yet):

John Morrissey STAN def Alex Brigham UCLA 6-2, 6-2

Roberto Quiroz USC def Seth Stolar UCLA 6-2,6-4

Top seed Ray Sarmiento USC def Ryoto Tachi UCLA 7-5,6-2

I am not on site... and yes, only live results I can find are from UCLA tweets.

I saw John Morrissey play this week, and I found him a bit rusty.... but he still won easily. I think he'll be the leading man for Stanford this year. Watch out freshman Nolan Paige, he already has victories against strong players McMorrow (U Wash) and K McLachlan (Cal). For other teams, Giron and Novikov for UCLA, and Sarmiento for USC look good.

UCLA is dominating the competition. 3 Bruins in the semis, only USC player in semis is Sarmiento:

Sherwood Singles; Giron, Puget & Novikov all win in straight sets to reach the semifinals; Giron vs Puget, Sarmiento USC vs Novikov
