I'm experiencin knee pain for the first time in my life. right now, i'm wearing new balance CT 820s.

    I'm wondering whether this is
    a) just me
    b) the shoe
    c) the fact that theyre fairly worn down

    Thanks a lot, sam.

A lot of knee pain can be directly attributed to:
    1) wearing old shoes
    2) shoes without enough cushioning (on hard courts)
    3) playing too much
    4) age

Depending on your age I would say your knees are sore b/c of your worn down shoes and the fact that New Balance shoes don't offer that much cushioning. Once the midsole flattens out that's it and the shock absorbtion is gone. This leaves your ankles, knees, hips, and back to absorb all the pounding.

Sorry for long winded answer. Try new shoes first.

I totally agree with Richie Rich because I experince this. whenever I feel the start of any soreness in my knees, I know it is time to get new shoes, once I start playing in new shoes the knee sorness dissapears. The soles of the shoes (outer wear) aren't always a good indicator that your shoes are worn out. I wear BIIs just switched to BIIIs. When it's time to get a new pair, the soles are just begining to show signs of wear. In my case, it is the support in the upper shoe that gets broken down that leave my feet without support thus, the ankles and knees absorb all the shock.

Stop imitating Clijsters splits shot! Just joking.

I definitely think it's your shoes. They are the only line of defence against the harsh vibrations that slam into your feet when you are running.

If you have crap shoes, the shock is going to go right through your shoes and attack your knees!!!

Try putting some quality insoles in them for the meantime if you can't find shoes on sale or ones you want. But do not play on if you're feeling pain!!! You'll kill yourself man!

    Good luck!

these last pair of BIIs lasted 4 months. before the BIIs I wore Reebok Bonzers which lasted about 2 1/2 months before they were shot.

hey robkat, how many hours/week do you play and what level player are you? the reason i ask you is because just like moosryan, a couple of months ago i experienced knee pain for the first time, so i decided to invest in some quality shoes - barricade 2s. at first it worked out great, no pain whatsoever, but now, about a month and a half later my knees get pretty sore the day after playing. i'm ok while playing, but the day after i feel like i'm crippled. still much, much better than what i went through with my old shoes (prostaff mesh classic), but even so i was thinking i was going to get at least 6+ months out of these barricade 2s, and now i'm thinking it won't even be close to that.

i play about 12-14 hours a week on hardcourts, and i'm a 4.0. about equal parts singles and doubles.
