A couple of weeks ago, I sprained my ankle playing tennis for the first time ever (which is something since I'm in my late 30s and have played for 20+ years) I've rolled my ankles plenty of times to the extent where it hurt, but could always just walk off the pain. This was a pretty bad sprain and has kept me from doing much since. It's been healing and has come a long way, but it will still be a few more weeks before I'm 100% I'm very paranoid about returning to the court and doing it again. This may be a bit irrational, but that's how I feel. For the past two years, I've worn Prince T9 Roadsters, which I always though were comfortable and durable. They're wide shoes and the upper is pretty flexible. I do have fairly wide feet but not so much that I can't fit into normal width shoes. I know shoes can't prevent ankle sprains/injuries. But, are there any shoes that will at least lessen the risk? Stiffer shoe uppers? A more snug fit? What about Babolat and its velcro straps on the Propulse line? Any advice appreciated.
