Should Nadal give it a day and withdraw from the remaining tournaments in 2012?

What should Nadal do now?

  1. Skip the rest of 2012 to fully recuperate

He's got nothing to gain, really. Won't get back to the top 2 and I'm pretty sure he's gained enough points to end the year in the top 4. Also, it's his worst part of the season with the "fastest" tournies left this year (Shanghai/Beijing/Basel/Paris/WTF). What should he do?

i think it depends on how he feels. If he feels great in october, maybe he could play Basel or Paris and the WTF and just that. He should certainly not get involved in davis cup or anything and should def. skip Asia too.

He should skip 2012. Only play the Slams, and ClayMS1000 next year!

I wonder how Uncle Toni is reacting to this...after all his gravy train may be coming to a screeching halt here.

I'm sure he'll find some other up and comer to coach. Toni will be fine.

i would skip the rest of 2012. only has Tokyo to defend and a RR at the WTF, not enough to rush him back into competition if he's not 100%. it's his worst part of the season and i'd rather have him prepare for the Australian.

He might as well skip it now, no need playing on his least favorite courts or the WTF against all top 8 players that would keep him running. Heal your knees and your mind and come back in january.

It seems his current injuries are more an accumulation of things that have built up over time than something sudden. I think a long break to fully heel his body is for the best now. There is nothing else that matters the rest of the year other than maybe the WTF and there is no way in hell being out of action for many months he would have a chance to win at his worst event. This is the perfect time to fully heal and strengthen with for once absolutely nothing on the line or to play for, now that the U.S Open is ruled out officaly, and come back fighting next year. Ending the year at #3 or #4 isnt a big difference.
