I love how this dress looks! I had it in my hands in Cincinnati, but I didn't try it on ('cause I knew I couldn't afford it no matter how much I loved it....didn't want to tempt myself).

Here's a reason to buy this dress. Three reasons, in fact:

    Life.

    Is.

    Short.

It looks good. I can't imagine it being too comfortable though.

Yes, I got the M. I did order the yellow shorts but returned them only because I like my other shorts better. Same with the bra.

I'm 5'3" with a B cup bust. I'm not skinny but pretty toned and not curvy at all. More straight up & down. Think shorter/smaller version of Woz with slightly more muscular legs from running. My friend also has this dress, but she is 5'5" with a C cup bust & curvier body. I have to say the dress looks great on both of us. :)

The pleated design around the bust area is large enough to accommodate more endowed woman without making them look like the bust is spilling out of the dress, but the design also looks great on a smaller busted person like me. I think it's the small pleats that follow the bust line, and the pattern maker did a great job.

Then, there is the wide strip of horizontal pleat designs on the sides. For someone like me with straight body, it gives the illusion of more defined waist.

If you are concerned about the comfort, I have to say that the dress is very comfortable. The length is not an issue for me since I'm not tall. In fact, I love the length since I don't have to shorten it.

Do you ever stay in your tennis outfit to run errands or do lunch with the ladies after playing? The dress also looks fantastic with a simple sweater and a pair of ballet flats.

You should order the dress and try it on. Just return it if you don't like it.

Awesome! Did you get the yellow undies and bra?

Meanwhile, they are playing with brown over at Bolle:

It also comes in red. Alas, I can tell by the way it pulls on the mannequin that this would never fit my backside.

I did not get the yellow underwear. I'll wear white, or else a pale blue set I have (which happens to be adidas, actually).

I saw a 16 year old girl wearing the Adidas neon yellow under shorts with the yellow tank top at a tournament. Only a teenager could get away with wearing that outfit.

I have quite a lot of colorful sports bras and shorts from Lululemon that I wear under the dress. The shorts are for hot yoga but they are very short & have wide waistband, which I really like.

By the way, the dress doesn't have a lot of stretch around the bust when you initially put it on. It stretches out enough after a couple of outings. Hope you like the dress.

Ok....a bit of a buried shout-out...to Cindy. Sent you an email. Not sure if you check that e-box often. My registered box is a bit of a junk collector.

But while we're on the subject of clothes, does anyone else have any Slazenger gear? I've got two skorts and a top from them that I love. But I can't find any US shop that sells them. It's high quality stuff and not quite so high prices.

Also...my latest skort find: shhhh...it's from the "girls" dept at a local big box. Sad. This. That I can fit in a kids XL. LOL. But it's a really nice (albeit plain) brown skort with a small pink flower at the hip...with some jewels. My girls luv it. Guess I'll have to fight 'em for it in a few years.

I did get your message, but my kids kicked me off of that computer. I will write to you via TT, so check your box.

That you have had children and can still wear children's clothing is just . . . . ooooh, it makes me so *mad!*

You probably can too Cindy...I have a Nike girls skort in XL.

AG, I have seen Slazenger at the one of the big box stores up here. Rhymes with Rick's!!!

    ^^

Got it. Thanks. Good to know someone else kinda in the same boat. Not sure it's exactly a done deal (although most others do); we did win a lot, but I'm not sure we played any high quality (read: rating-wise) opponents until the Playoffs.

I'll stay in the hold mode and just let the cards fall where they may. I do have a few connections at the 4.0 level; just not very many and I'm not sure if any of them would take two recent bumps (remember that part about partners...hehe).

Now about those kids clothes. Since I started pregnancy #1 at 103lb...and #2 at 101lb...there was always hope to get back to the magic "pre-pregnancy" weight. Personally, however, I was hoping to keep some of that extra. LOL. I was actually able to hit the ball. Hard. 'Mazin' what 10 extra lbs did for my serve and my FH.

Now, when I tell you I'm 5'7"...those weights should make you cringe. They sure did my OB. He begged me to gain 20lbs. I did both times. But not much more. Both my girls were over 7lb and I did it the old-fashioned way (albeit with drugs!). So I was ALL baby. It sure did look funny in a...tennis dress. :p

Thanks, Topaz. That's where I got my three pieces. I even have a GF who works in their corporate office...but she's not been able to locate any. Guess I'll have to take another look myself...and make a call to Pittsburgh.

    the white woz dress

    the white stella/adidas dress came.

the dress is beautifully cut. as it turns out, the fit is perfect (I ordered a size up) -- tight only in places it should be tight, and not too short.

the material is soft and feels wonderful, but is, unfortunately, in the white, completely see-through. I'd be too embarrassed to wear it out of the house.

I imagine the grey version doesn't have this problem. Sadly, the white has to go back.

Here is an emoticon essay of how I felt while opening the package and trying on the dress:

Really really see-through? Like, what does that mean?

Like, it's white and you can clearly see the outline of a colored bra and shorts? Maybe if you used a white bra and white shorts you'd get a cute peek-a-boo effect?

Awwwww, so sorry, Inga. It is a beautiful dress. Too bad the material is just too see-thru. That's one of the reasons I tend to shy away from white stuff (that...and the kids who dribble all kinds of stuff on me...just as I'm about to walk out the door!).

Are you going to get the gray version?

no, it's see through with white bra & shorts -- that photo is misleading. you can completely see the bolle compression shorts under the dress, and the bottom of the white sports bra makes an awkward line and looks inelegant beneath the pattern across the boobs. when they said this dress is lingerie inspired, they were not kidding.

I wish I were brave enough to get the grey! I only ever wear white on the court. once I bought a yellow dress (that serena dress from last year's AO) and I hardly ever wear it. Holdover from my tennis-whites-only childhood, I think. I should really get over it.

VERY disappointed about the adidas, though!

    Wow! Really, white only?

I get a knot in the pit of my stomach when I play somewhere that requires white. I spend the entire match worrying that I've gotten something on myself, or I sat in something, or brushed against something, or the fabric is too sheer. Then when I launder it, I have a whole new round of anxiety as I worry that something will go wrong there also.

I say Today Is The Day that Inga orders the gray dress and embraces her non-white side!

That didn't come out right, but you know what I mean. :)

    I wish I could do it. I can't. Only because I know I wouldn't wear it.

Usually I have excellent luck with white stuff -- being too sheer isn't a problem.

    Ladies! My goodness! :)

My last two matches have both taken place at clubs with very well stocked pro shops, and dresses galore! (Cindy, email me if you want the location info!). I took some pictures on my phone, and I'll try to upload when I have more time.

But I have never seen so many Sharapova dresses in one spot before! Lol!

Ps...though, on a side note, one of these places was so strict on their tennis policies that all of us had to have our shoes checked before getting on court. Ohhhhkay....

Have you guys seen the new Sergio Tacchini dress? I think I like it - I'd love to try it on. I may even like the white version. I am quite sure that, around here, I'd be subject to some kind of NASCAR comment because of the checkered side panels, but that's OK!

^OK, I swore I would not buy any more dresses. I made this pledge aloud to my husband, who has started grumbling a bit. And he's no longer buying the, "I'm just using up some gift certificates, dear!" lie that I've been feeding him.

I am buying that Sergio dress. OMG, it's amazing!

Topaz, I know the facility of which you speak. You will recall that all of my shoes except one pair are black or grey/yellow. I was sweating bullets when they checked my shoes, and they passed me.

And yes, it's an amazing pro shop. I tried on the Azarenka Concussion dress there. I didn't see many Sharapova dresses, but I haven't been there in a while.

Uh oh. Not so fast. Now I'm not so sure about the Sergio dress. Here's the side view:

    And the back:

Is it me, or does that look like way too much checkerboard pattern on the side? Maybe it would be OK given that the checkerboard is only on one side?

I might struggle with the hips in this one, too. The length is also a concern -- it is 25 inches. The K-Swiss that I got hemmed was 22.5. Then again, I've been waiting for a good white dress, and this looks well made (although the white is white/navy, apparently).

Gotta think on this one. Does anyone know how the Sergio dresses fit?

Wow - I didn't check out the side view. I don't mind that it's a checkerboard pattern, but I thought it was a narrow strip on the sides. In that view, the pattern would seem to have a definite "widening" effect. I'd still like to try it on, to see it IRL. I've never worn any ST clothing, so I have no idea of fit.

I know. It's a pity. A great dress perhaps compromised by something so easily done differently. You take that side strip and make it about 3 inches wide, or make it an hourglass shape, and you don't have a problem.

Order it and report back. I know I'd have to have it shortened by having the skirt separated from the body of the dress, cut, and then sewn on again. It starts to appear perhaps not worth it for a short gal like me. That nailhead DTL dress is 23.5 inches, and that is the absolute longest I want to have in a tennis dress.

In Serigo's favor, however, we have this gorgeous skort. Flat in front, cute pleats at the bottom in back. Too bad I don't like skorts:

    I watched as well.

I was like "Oh...so this is why I suck at doubles."

And then I realized that statement could be expanded to tennis as a whole.

But at least I dress nicely damnit!

Ladies (and...Jolly)...I give you, my tennis dresses (thanks to a recent cleaning to make room for new stuff!):

Short sleeve TTK dress from the auction site (most of these are from there, sorry TW, but I'm not flush with the $$$), this is actually one of my favorites, and the one I've worn the most. The fabric is super soft and it is very comfortable to play in. I believe it is a European brand, and I see it from time to time on pros.

Nike, from the auction site, back from the Mary Pierce days. This is an interesting dress, it has an entire built in kind of a bodysuit in it! No need for separate shorties or even a bra! I've worn it twice, as it does feel a bit weird to wear.

Nike, from the auction site, and was listed as a sample. I'm not sure if it even would really work as a tennis dress, but it was too cute (and cheap) for me to pass up.

Ellesse dress from about 3 years ago. It is absolutely gorgeous and yes, TW, I got it from you! Though, I have to admit, I've never had the guts to wear it. Silly, I know!

Ohhh, this was one of my first dresses. Puma, from the auction site. Puma runs small, but since I've dropped a bit of weight, and intend to keep going, it is kind of my 'goal' dress. I LOVE this dress!

Nike dress, from the auction site. From quite a few seasons ago. I had high hopes for this dress, but it is a bit long on me. It is very pretty, and that is mesh up at the top. Uhhh, it is medium....ya know, in case anyone cares...*eyebrow and meaningful look*.

I'm pretty sure most of us are familiar with this dress! Yes, the Adidas pink dress! LOVE IT! Haven't worn it yet but it will debut soon. Such great fabric, I also bought the tank and skort from this line.

Another Adidas, from the old YOC line (I think that is what it was called? One of the first that AnaIvo wore, Anna Chakvetadze wore it as well.). I really *want* to like this dress, I do, the fabric is great, I love the color...it doesn't fit me the best in the hips, though it doesn't look bad either. Just not sure yet on this one. (of course, I've had it forever though!)

Nike dress...worn by Daniele Hantuchova a few years ago. LOVE IT. Super soft fabric, very pretty subtle design, and very comfortable to play in. I wanted this one for a long, long time, and waited until I found it at a great price.

This is my 'little black dress'! It is an odd brand, called USAPro, and I found it on a site for a lingerie store (kid you not). I don't think the brand is around that much anymore? The dress is very comfy, with black mesh panels on both sides.

Nike, Serena's French Open dress from a few years ago, found for 20 bucks at a TJ Maxx in the boonies of MD. It has a matching belt. There is a bit of a transparency issue (it is a beautiful off white color with navy trim on the bottom), but the cut up top is really great for me. I have the tank from the same line as well.

Nike. I really wanted this dress the first time I saw it, too, but I couldn't never decide on the color, because it also came in red. I found this one on the auction site and decided to pull the trigger. It is a tough fabric, though, and kind of hot to play in. Best if you are on the straight and skinny side for this one, and I'm not! (eh hem...also a medium)

So there you have it. I probably only wear four or five of those with any kind of regularity, but to be honest, I kind of forgot I had some of them!

Nice collection, Topaz! Thanks for sharing!

Tell us, what is it that is most likely to cause you to shelve a dress and not wear it? It sounds like you bought some of these and haven't worn them yet, and I'm curious about why.

I have worn all of mine at one time or another. The main issue I have when I shelve a dress is that I am or I feel too heavy.

Cindy, there's never been a moment in my life when I didn't feel too heavy. It is a self confidence issue.

Two of the dresses, however, will be worn this week...the pink Adidas and the blue TTK.

I just grasped the idea of photobucket. does it help to upload photos of ourselves wearing tennis dresses? I notice this is not really done in other forums, but frankly real people in real dresses (anonymously, with heads kind of removed) is very helpful to me. Would this be helpful to other people?

It would be helpful, but no way am I posting a pic of my body on the internet if everyone knows it's my body, you know? Wouldn't be safe, IMHO, even with the cover of screen alias.

I suppose you could do it if you created a new identity solely for that purpose. It wouldn't be fun having some of the creeps following you around the board saying heaven knows what, though.

Hmmm, I've been watching this dress, and now it's on sale:

I already have this dress in the black and white stripe, but that is the dress I kind of botched by having it hemmed a bit too short. I know for a fact that the fit is awesome, so maybe I will get this one and wear it with white shoes? I dunno, I think I would like it in the purple a little better, but that one is still full price.

And here's something strange from Wilson. The dress isn't strange. What is strange is the price (on sale for $32) and the fact that it is available in all sizes. It's really, really pretty, so doesn't that mean it is too good to be true?

I think I had better order a medium before the rest of you do!
