    Did anyone see this?

Won an entire set against Errani without losing a single point.

When was the last time someone did that in a slam?

it is tough to do it on your serve, can't imaging doing it with opponent serve.

I posted this in another thread on the subject, but to understand the rarity of this accomplishment (according to announcers on radio wimbledon)

    1. The chances of playing a Golden Set in tennis are the same as the chances of scoring a 59 in golf.

    2. Historically, it's never before been achieved at a grand slam ... and only once before on the tour!

    3. "The only known example of a golden set in men's professional tennis was achieved by Bill Scanlon against Marcos Hocevar (of Brazil) in the first round of the WCT Gold Coast Classic at Delray Beach, Florida on February 22, 1983. Scanlon won the match, 6–2, 6–0. A golden set is when a player wins the set without losing a single point.

The feat is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. Only Yaroslava Shvedova has since repeated the feat, at Wimbledon in 2012."

I'm glad Errani lost, she is the biggest pusher out there.

And only 1 unforced error from Errani, out of the 24 points in the set.

I think Roger may have done it to Rafa at the French Opens a couple of times.

"Shvedova won 23 consecutive points at the start of her match against American Amy Frazier in round two at Memphis in 2006, and took the set 6-1. More remarkably, she lost that match 1-6, 6-0, 6-0." [source]

This jubilee year is turning out to be something very special, sad for some people but special for the rarity of certain occurrences. At this rate, it would almost be a major anticlimax if Djokovic won the tournament; I suppose you could say how nice it would be if post-surgery Sharapova won here again, in the same place where it all began for her, but the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if Radwanska **ghast** came through.

    100% / 0% LOL.

Have to say Wimbledon is certainly throwing up memorable matches for the record books. The Isner/Mahut match a couple of years back, and now this. 15 min first set? She was hitting clean winners as well. BBC did a highlight of the 24 points in a 30 second clip. Extraordinary.

Its just amazing. The same lady was one point away from golden set in 2006. She double faulted and also lost the match.
6 years later, she became the first woman in open era to achieve golden set.
    amazing.....golden set specialist :)

A new lot for the WTA. A very recent grand slam finalist and top 10er suffers a Golden Set. Unbelievable.

I think it's almost as amazing as winning 23 points in a row and then losing the match...which she also did....1-6, 6-0, 6-0? Something is odd about this girl

Really incredible achievement. Any golden set is obviously very rare, but against a top 10 player who only made 1 unforced error in the set? Just wow.

No way she could have won a golden set against Murray. The Brits would have called her for 11 foot faults in a row.

After winning 23 consecutive points, she still lost her serve in that set, then broke again, only to not win another game :S

maybe you know of another player, either male or female, who was able to win 23 consecutive points?

obviously, she's the improved Slava now! Only player in Grand Slam history to play a Golden Set ... and to think she almost did it twice

cuz if she had done a golden set the first time, she'd still have broken the record as the first woman to do it, cuz that first time wasn't a grand slam ... no matter whether she won the match or not ... and this would have been the second time!!!

something interesting about Slava ... maybe she can even beat Serena on Monday!

did Shevedova spend too much time in doubles ?

Agree, Shevedova has got some talent. not the fastest girl on tour but her power game is starting to come of age.
Did you guys think she wasted several years playing Doubles with King ? She won major title and i think it makes it worth while in my opinion. She dumped Vania King to concentrate on singles.
Poor Vania, she is playing doubles with Yasmin now. which is ok since Yasmin is very talented player too.

    Some interesting factoids:

    1. First tournament Vania and Slava ever played together as a doubles team was birmingham 2010 -- and they made it to the QF

    2. Second tournament Vania/Slava played as a team was one week later: Unicef in Netherlands 2010, and they made it to the finals, losing only to L. Huber/B. Mattek-Sands along the way.

    3. Third tournament Vania Slava played was next week after Unicef, and they beat every other team they played, winning the Wimbledon Championship 2010.

    4. About 1-1/2 months later, King/Shvedova won the U.S.Open Doubles Championship 2010, beating Huber/Petrova in the final.

    5. 2011 Slava battled successive injuries, and the only tournament they won was Moscow 2011, after having made it to the finals of the U.S. Open, where they were runners up to Huber/Raymond.

    6. 2012 - Slava/Vania have played Australian Open and French Open, achieving QF in both.

    7. Otherwise in 2012, Slava has been teaming up with her countrywoman Galina Voskoboeva in preparation for the Olympics. Their team is still alive at Wimby, where they are scheduled to play Raquel Kops-Jones/Abigail Spears (USA) in the 3rd Round.

    8. I'm assuming that Slava will team up with Vania again for the USO doubles this year
