Plays more like babolat xcel or prince premier LT. There is a tecnifibre string that is probably similar. I don't think that the less expensive strings play close to NXT.

Technifibre NRG2 is the most similiar string by far.
I was told by a Wilson rep. years ago that Technifibre actually makes NXT for Wilson. Don't know if it's still the case but I've seen many unable to tell the difference.

Have been using Volkl's V-Twist of late. I feel it plays much like NXT, but less expensive and doesn't fray. Of course, the downside of not fraying is that you don't really know when it's going to break!

I don't think NXT is anything special. For me it plays well, but it frays quickly and durability is poor. IMO Prince Premier Attack not only lasts longer, it also plays better for a fraction of the price, but I know personal preference is a big factor. At least it's worth a try if you don't mind saving money. Higher price does not always mean a product is better. In fact, companies often use high price as a marketing strategy because so many people perceive high price as an indicator of a premium product, whether or not it's true.

Have you tried NXT Max? Seems to last (although it frays).

And not sure that Babolat Xcell feels quite like NXT; I kinda prefer NXT now.

Never tried NXT Max. I generally stay away from multis that cost over $15. For that kind of money I'd rather buy Klip Legend or Pacific Classic and get 2-3 times the durability. Last time I tried NXT was when I ordered a racquet from TW and there was a discount if you strung it with NXT.

Thank you for the tip Sir!

At the time, I was afraid that rain might ruin the gut (be it a cheaper one like the ones you've mentioned) on my "spare" racket; do you think that's still a factor (or an advantage for the multi) with the new coatings(presuming that Klip and Pacific also went the way of BT7)?

I monitor my strings' tension with RacquetTune constantly. My advice is to keep any natural gut dry. I see a significant drop in tension anytime I even play with gut after a storm. BTW..I actually play as well with PPA as I do with Pacific Classic (my favorite gut).

Meh. I think addiction is lower powered and stiffer. Not too far off though.

I'm really liking Prince Premier Attack over Wilson NXT right now. PPA doesn't seem to move OR shred as much as NXT, plus currently PPA half the price of NXT.

PPA has much better characteristics overall in every department except power IMO. PPA is the better string for everything else though. Extremely good value and it should be at about $12
