I'm in Singapore for somewhere between 1 month and 6 months and wanted to join a tennis club, or arrange some hitting. Anyone have any recommendations for clubs or in town and want a game/hit? I'm about a 4.0-4.5 level player currently staying in the Pan Pacific hotel which has access to the courts here:
http://www.marinasquare.com.sg/web/cs_facilities.aspx, so can always just have a game/hit here.
    Thanks.

    Rick,

    Take a look here: www.tfntennis.com

If my memory serves me correctly, I think they have some regular tennis nights. Look around the pages on the board.

Hi guys, just arrived in Singapore. Having major trouble finding people at my level. I usually play at the campus tennis courts at NUS (national uni). I'll check out that tfntennis website but if anyone can help me too, I'd really appreciate it. Richard if you wanna play sometime, you can msn me at terra_star@hotmail.com.

    hi,

i am the adminstrator of tfntennis.com . we do not need to prove anything to you here cos we are a non-profit club registered with the Registry of Socities. every single dollar we collected is recorded. we pay our yearly income tax to the authority too..

if you have joined our session and is disappointed, you should post your comments in our forum, we would be very happy rather then posting here...

How do you recommend 'some1' to step in? Another disgrunted Singaporean player with TFN.

    Hi TennisFamily,

There is enough in the world for everyone's need, but not enough for somebody greed.I empatize with your bad experience.

To host of kallang whom it may concern: There is a difference between a gentleman and a crook to get rich  Regarding the tennis balls, it is better to deliver what you have promise" and it is not right to host so many players with very few playing court. I believe that we all have passion for playing tennis and I’m sure you would not like others to treat you in such a way too. Let’s be fair and not take advantage of other peoples passion for playing tennis.

Conscience is the inner voice that warns us somebody may be looking. No one need to prove anything to anyone here! "Let events be the judge itself"

    Godspeed ;)

I second that suggestion. That's where I used to play. Even made the finals of the club tournament once.

i just went to the clubnight that TFN host yesterday. I didn see player hitting at the side alley and they open new slazenger balls on each court.

This is a very malicious claim by someone with only 2 posts.

I'm not sure which club tennisfamily is talking about but even if tennisfamily is referring to this TFN and how can you be so sure that this is a malicious claim? are you in that club night regulary since day1? and how much the court is charge in singapore? is it right to flood the tennis court with so many players as what tennis family said? and is there any stright reply from the host that they pay for that event too? i've check out this club website and dont see any account or records show to members.Money well spent? Or lost? nobody know! and lastly i hope this debate going to be fair without any personal prejudice.

No offense, but, "dragonhorse" went there to verify and hence creditable. Also, NPNT (no picture no talk).

Lastly, this is a post to get players for game, and not to focus on how TFN or any clubs conduct their business.
    Thus, shall we respect that?

I've been to this nite session occasionally and I never felt deprived. That is because I've made my decision ( on my own accord )to join their session. I am not sure which website you've checked but I believe you have your facts wrong. Every Monday morning , I would check to see the venue, courts availabilty and price before I put my name in. At times when I see the session is full and the host put in in waitling list, I will try to look elsewhere for a game instead.

The hosts trust the players signing up to make a clear decision. If they see the session is full or the price is not right, they will join other sessions that other players posted in the website ( oh wait......I think you did not see that but take this as something you should know before you start haggaling about ). The hosts would always try their best to fit /ensure all players to have enough playtime; be it beginner or club.

Well, as the question boils to the hosts whether they pay their dues, I would say they at least made the payments to the courts booked and the balls used. I have attended their yearly events as well ( I believe you missed that too ) and needless to say , they cost money ( food , drinks , booking of places , prizes etc ).

Bottomline, players who signed up for the regular session know too well the intention - they are encouraged to know players of similar standards and form their own play session elsewhere. I have known some and we organised to play elsewhere. Hence, judging from the hosts intention, I believe they are not out to profiteer but to help players to look for other players to play tennis.

PS : - if you miss this whole intention, I pity your naivety :(

Simply too good to be true but since you are trying so hard to make your point. It's hard for others not to belive what you said but what do the public know? when there's no transparent and clean account of the funds.

bulldog! are u the only tennis group organizer in singapore? am i'm talking about you or your fellow hosts or did I hit your raw nerve with my comments on my experience in singapore?

i've check out tfn site..it's a very ORGANIZE group and of cuz you need not need to prove anything to me if u think so.

While i'm checking out your cool site and saw this respond from u or your fellow host. Please accept my apology, if I open up a can of worms in your forum. It is my earnest hope that your club will regain back the public’s confidence. But once again why only club members entitle club account dont you guys also collect from the public's also known as forum members? Dont they have the right to know too?The remedy is to be account transparency and since u guy are a non-profit club registered with the Registry of Socities what is there to hide from the public's when u guys also collect money from the public's? Does it make sense?

How to convince someone to believe when u guys are not transparent at all? i'm not here to challenge your club or the host integrity.just hope u get the point! Treat others the way you want to be treated and be FAIR...

Thanks guys for standing up for TFN club. I've seen through TFN over the years, please allow me to make a few clarifications in case there is still any unresolved doubt. I'm afraid my words may come a little harsh to some but I have to make things straight before doubts turn from bad to worse.

Firstly, I'd love you guys to read and digest the motto, vision amd mission of TFN before anything else. It seems naive to be asked to do so but I'm sorry you really have to otherwise you wouldn't understand why TFN is operating the way it is.

Secondly, every single cent we collected from club nights/beginners nights and membership fees are 100% used back to the club members. There's no way any of the committee member or TFN club member putting the funds into any personal use. The funds have all been accounted for and we have a treasurer and an external auditor to ensure we do not mis-use the club fund. We plan to send a copy of TFN club accounts to all valid TFN club members at the end of the year for clarity. That said, we are a Registered Society with ROS and we don't go to stock market. Thus, we have no obligation to be accountable to any public member in the forum here on how the club funds are being used. So I'm afraid I may have to disappoint some of you who have made the allegations and hoping to see an account statement. Just a little extra information for you guys, the hosting of this forum is not free. There's a monthly hosting charges incurring as we want the forum to be stable and maintained well for the ease of all our web members. We have a web domain name to maintain yearly as well. In fact, all web members here have been in a very minor way benefited without being asked to pay a single cent to TFN simply because we don't see the need to since we are not here to make any profit, but to promote tennis to the community.

Thirdly, the hosts of the night need not pay the fee simply because they've been putting in effort in coordinating for the sessions from booking courts 2 weeks in advance, all the way till the session ends, everything needed to be done to ensure all players and new comers get comfortable with the session. Mind you, apart from the hosts of night, all other committee members have been paying the fee like any other member for each session they participated in without failed.

Fourthly, we've consistantly considered the maximum no. of players we can take each club/beginners session. Otherwise we may end up having 30 to 40 players for each session if you noticed.

Finally, any false allegation on TFN club and how we operate the club and its activities is not welcomed here. You may have your own view depending on how you perceive it, but my advise to you is if you do not agree with the way the club and forum are running, there's always another place you may find it suiting you better. Hence, make your choice today while I truly appreciate you to stop creating false allegations with whatever intention you might have.

    and the point is?

well, if you feels that the club night is run in a dishonest manner then stay away. why do you still want to play there? i question not the way TFN guys run the club but more of your intelligent.

am sure you will stay away from a restaurant if you felt that you have been short changed right? doesn't it strike you to apply the same logic for the TFN night? if others continue to patronize the restaurant or the club, it only means that they are fine with the way the business is being run.

if you are the only one has problem with that. that is becos you have got a problem. and that is your own problem. solve it yourself.

Wow. So much information and drama in this post.
I'll be in Singapore some time in the middle of June for a few days.

I'll check out the TFN place if I have time and post a review.
