Oudshoorn is assistant coach @ GWU.

very vey nice win.
North Florida gets a nice #52 UNC-Wilmington
ODU defeated CofC in an epic match to get a nice ranked win.
Four 3 set matches. Old Dominion had to rally from a set down on courts 3 and 4 to get the win and on court 5 Koen Wiggenmans overcame an 0-6 2nd set and was down 2-5 in the 3rd but came back and took the 3rd 7-6(10) in an epic deciding tiebreak.
Utah state with a nice 4-3 win over Marquette
Lamar beat UTSA today for the first time ever. Actually, Lamar is having a record year, with wins over UTA, UTPA, Southern Miss; all schools that Lamar has struggled with in the past. Since Lamar's team is nearly all freshmen and sophomores, it's possible this new level of success could last a couple more years. We'll see. Go Southland Conference! =-)
well the rice loss looks really bad
but lamar is very young and i know a lot of players from their junior times
they are not good enough to threaten the bigger colleges
but could do well in the midlevel i think
lots of european, especially scandinavia.
North Dakota gets their 2nd Big Sky conference match win of the year over Southern Utah 6-1. The only loss came at no. 1 singles where Josh Oothoudt dropped his match 6-3 6-2. Next up is a four match home stand for the Fighting Sioux.
Grand Canyon University men are sitting atop the WAC in their first year in Division 1. Granted, the WAC is a shadow of its former self. 4-0 in conference play and 10-4 on the year.
Oops! Sounds like a mess.
Wow. That sounds like an absolute train wreck. Barthel actually tried to recruit a player of mine when he was at Nebraska in a way that was a bit 'sketchy' (the player ultimately went elsewhere).
not sure if that's a great job to go for
Not at this time. Not a terrible job though
Why not? It's a mess, but unless they are getting sanctioned, it's a really good job imo. The conference is not that hard to win, great city, decent pay, full-time assistant, and some history of success at the mid-major level. Heck, they beat Georgia Tech this year.
Not a bad opening match for UIW vs Tulsa. The top 3 players are good players and can test better teams. The issue though remains the same from last year. No depth at all. 4-6 are very weak and will cause the team to struggle this season.
ODU beats Rice 4-2, interesting, cause Rice was a good middle-average tennis college the last seasons.
UNC Asheville beats East Carolnia 4-2.
University of Portland beat #68 East Tennessee State 4-3
UP has 4 true freshman in the lineup. 3 of them won their singles match (Incidentally, including my son lol)
How is life as a college Player? Impressive win by the way.
look at their roster. They ve five Transfers. Tsangarides. Velickovic. Leme. Pereira. Timmerman. Interestibg Team
St Louis U goes down to Creighton and Siue to start the year
I'm not sure if it was someone on this forum or not but I remembered being told that if a player transfers from a big program to a smaller one, it doesn't say good things about their work ethic or ambition.
Not sure I buy that. What if a player goes straight out of high school to a place that he likes for a variety of reasons, one of which is that he will get good playing time? Now, what if a player figures out that he should have done this after a year somewhere else?
Looking at the programs from which these CCU players transferred, were they going to become pros by staying there? Do those programs produce a lot of pros?
Hey Clark, as you are a Virginia guy, do you have any thoughts on why William and Mary doesn't have a decent team ? Seems like they have a nice facility, good academics, good quality of life on campus, sort of a smaller UVA. They never seem to have a good team though.
could be a mix of all
-work ethic will be one point
- but acadamecis
- away from home in another state
- not enough playing time (like when you enroll at UVA...like Jordan Daigle)
could be everything or a mix of it
Drawing a broad assumption about why players transfer is crazy to me. The reasons are so many. There are many examples of players not getting playing time or playing low on a lineup, transferring to smaller or less know program and excelling. My favorite current example is Stakhovsky. Played 5-6, sometimes sat out matches at OU, transfers last year to Penn State makes the NCAA's and plays at the top of their line up.
They usually have a good team by mid-major standards. Like a lot of mid-majors, they tend to get four-star recruits. There was a two-year stretch where they had a rash of injuries, including injuries that affected players for more than a season. They do have some recent NCAA tourney appearances, though.
Portland is ranked at #74
The team was pretty pumped. The coach was quick to point out that it is early in the season and they need to work hard each day if they want to make it stick.
It is a excellent program and beside having great coaches they are good people. Those kids are learning a lot more than just tennis and it is important to have the right role models.

University of North Florida vs Florida Atlantic University
Location: University of North Florida
Winner: University of North Florida
Norfolk State University vs College of William and Mary
Location: College of William and Mary
Winner: College of William and Mary
they are not that bad, 5-2 for the season, only losses to Florida and Harvard, vs Harvard they took 2 single and 1 doubles and vs Florida 3rd doubles (plus 7th and 8th singles....the overall result was 3-9)
Their schedule is relatively week, but they are lot wins for a MidMajor-Tennis team. if it is enough for Ncaas i do not know
Not bad, but I feel like with the facilities they have and the education they offer they should be a top 20 type team.
Top20 is tough i think...you ve to improve so many things to be a constant Top20 thread, look at VCU (also i not know their facilities...) they ve dropped out of Top40 right now..and had a long time Top20 team

NC State's Bond outlasts Zyhmantovic at the No. 3 spot by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Blue Raiders trail 2-0.
Outlasting someone in a 1 & 2 - spin it anyway you can.
William&Mary lost 2-5 to Brown
Ouch...ok maybe top 20 is too ambitious, but top 75 should be realistic, at least keep up with VCU and Virginia Tech !
Cleveland State so far is 3-0, will be interesting when they meet Penn State in a few weeks
What happened to Wilder Pimentel for VCU? They aren't looking too good this year
Georgia Southern named former ODU assistant Alexander Koning as its new coach today. The previous coach, Nick Zieziula, resigned back in December to pursue other opportunities.
Wow koning is a real good guy. Can Start a lot at gsu!
Nick Zieziula was hired as the Men's Coach at Binghamton University. Surprised that Koning was able to land another gig so quickly as he was part of the staff at Indiana that got fired last semester for NCAA violations.
UNCW won 5-2 over Coastal Carolina
W&m 5-0 vs binghampton
Troy 4-1 over stetson
UC Irvine got a big win over #45 Boise State
Boise really bad this season without both top players Who graduated...
Wow Drake took out NC State yesterday 4-3
ETSU has gone downhill. They lost to Texas A&M Corpus Christi today 4-2. ETSU used to be a consistent top 40 team
Boise should not be ranked
