So has anyone been suspended by USTA or LTA regarding matches?

I was having a browse of the LTA's list of suspended players earlier today. Most of its pretty tame stuff eg. mostly brief suspension for late withdrawals, a few brief suspension for code violations etc.

However, one guy was banned from all rated competitive play for 6 months (yes, that's you Nick Hilder) which is pretty serious. I wonder what he did to warrant such a long 6 month ban from competition?

So purely out of curiosity, I just wonder if anyone's been suspended before (or know anyone that has) and what/how long it was for?

"Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages" = Gross Misconduct?

So you can't have a bottle of wine in your bag, but you can bring a machine gun onto the court? On the changeover, I'll think get my opponents attention, and gesture down towards my machine gun before giving him a knowng look. I'm sure he won't make any iffy line calls after that!

There is a team close to me recently that was trying to get a late-season recruit from far away qualified for playoffs in the last match of the season. Except the player couldn't make that last match, so this team literally pulled a guy off the street to play and they tried to pass him off as this player they were trying to qualify for playoffs. Except this player barely knew the rules of tennis and couldn't hit the ball at all. So the other team knew something was up and filed a complaint. The team captain and the player's doubles partner were suspended from USTA play for a year, and everyone else who knew about this scheme were suspended for 3 months.

I also know of someone who completely annihilated his racket during a match. The other team filed a complaint, and the player was suspended for 3 months. I've come very close to doing that, I better watch myself, lol.

I know of at least two players locally both were for threatening language or gestures. One was a girl! Pretty sure the penalty served up by the grievance committee in both cases was six months no league play.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

It's like watching high school sports. You are not going to have anything to drink considering the amount of minors involved. I can only assume this is the similar reasoning to why USTA would want to prohibit alcohol as well.

I live in Atlanta metro area and play mostly ALTA league - team format like USTA but all doubles. I had a coach that was suspended for a year from ALTA. His was watching his teammates and a dispute started about line calls. A brawl start and teammates from both teams came down out of the stands. The brawl got bigger. Someone called the police. Both teams were suspended for a year.
