So Mecir is now the best non-slam/pro-slam winner?

    He won the wct finals, the olympics, miami when it was regarded as the '5th slam' (best of 5 sets every round). Also made two slam finals.

    He already was.other greats could include Pecci,Lutz,Franulovic,Pilic,Gottfried,Ramirez,Okker,Rios

    David Nalbandian? Tom Okker won 31 career titles made the USO final, and made the semi final of the other 3 majors.

    Actually Okker won more than 50 tournaments and I believe the Italian.

    Andy just put his ex-coach back in the mix on this list...Corretja was #2 in the world, finalist twice @ RG, won a tour final event and a DC.

    Another possibility is Frank Kovacs who was very successful on the Pro Tour but was a head case.

    Some thought he was as gifted as any player.

    Jack Kramer had said that Kovacs, Budge and Bromwich were the only players who could keep him from serving and volleying. Kovacs used to joke to Budge by saying "How's the world's second best backhand?" or something to that effect.

    Yes but Ernie couldn't hit a topspin backhand like Frank. :)
