Are there any in SCa or is it just a desert of dead knees? Only need to play a couple days, so would pay guest fees.

There are lots of clay courts if you know where to look.

The Rivera Country club has clay courts. Los Angeles Tennis Club as well. Both need to be guest of members etc but you can usual figure it out.

Just up the coast a little bit in Malibu is the Malibu Racquet Club I believe still has a real red clay court.

Burbank Tennis Center has two clay courts and is a public facility.

Good info - I always forget Burbank. But I did sit next to a member at Malibu on a recent flight who said their red clay was never any good and they took it out (so much for the 'one of each major claim). Sherwood CC still has theirs - and grass. Wish I'd picked the right Powerball #'s... :)

I thought that might be the case -- that MRC took the red clay out -- but haven't been up there in a while.

And yes -- Sherwood is still the place to go - once you get the damn Powerball numbers right!

^^^ I just checked out the MRC website. All references to having all 4 majors' surfaces are gone. As are any pictures of the red clay. Bummer, man.

Yeah -- I saw that. I think they still have the one AO Plexipave court but so much for RG red clay and the future grass. Oh well...

Have any of you tried the clay courts in Burbank? I want to try them out. Just wonder what the atmosphere amongst players there are usually like.

You could even make the drive to Andulka in Riverside. They have a clay court there that isn't all that bad.

Guy who used to post here a lot (@Momentum... Mitsubishi 3000 avatar) had mentioned that was a good facility.
