Soft spot for David Ferrer

very good Player but just not good enough to beat the top guys. he definitely made the most of his potential. others with more Talent achieved less than him.

of course it was hard to Play against djokofedal all the time but he made 26 millions of Price Money in his career so I don't feel too sorry for him:).

Not every player is going to win majors.

That said, David has had a fantastic career so far.

Is it only me or David is someone who's very admirable: you can tell his success is all determination and willingness to go the limit and distance, but yet still very down to earth and humble. Definitely one of the sport's best role models. Vamos David!

Definitely admirable, to have made a career as he had and still to be where he is at his age playing the style he does. A possible drug cheat I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be given all this but regardless of whether he is or he isn't he clearly is one of the hardest workers on tour, and considering the chances are that most players are using something or other so not as big deal as some would make it. Have a lot of respect for him, don't really enjoy watching him play particularly but got to give him a lot of credit.

I personally don't fancy his style and I actually find his game boring, but to act like a gatekeeper to the top 3s at one point is definitely no easy feat and demands up most respect. I sometimes find it fascinating how someone with a huge game like Berdych can't get pass him.

Love watching the guy. He's like a terrier with his tenacity. Not the biggest dog in the fight but always working hard. I guess his best shot is the French but it may be too late.

Berdych is a headcase who hasn't lived up to his potential. Ferrer is a guy who's worked his whole career to get as good as he is now.

That pretty much explains it.

David Ferrer also proves wrong those who would like to think he is a doper. BP has been around for some time now and David is still going strong. Hell, he has even climbed back into top 8 after dropping out of it last year and a rather turbulent season filled with injuries. Vamos David!

Sometimes I'll take a break from watching paint dry, to see Ferrer play a bit.

To each his own. I used to cringe watching Philippoussis, Ivanisovic, Stich, and guys with huge serves where it's one point and done. For me, the long rallys add tension.

He's ok for me. I wouldn't watch him playing a journeyman but I respect his game.

I've always liked Ferrer, and a lot more than the majority here I'd wager, but have however really never rated his game compared to many others and always found him to be lacking the extra gear needed to bring it home in the biggest events.

...Bad peak level of play compared to the others who have won around the same amount as him, and often underrated and overrated on this forum due to those aspects.

For some reason, among the top Spanish players, he's the one that I'm the "least fan of", if there is such a term, even if he's a close friend of Rafa's. I liked his dogged determination but I'd rather watch or root for Verdasco, Feli Lopez, GGL, RBA. Don't know. Never have a "soft spot" for him like you do.

Attractive people are generally perceived to be more successful and trustworthy.

Re: Ferrer--I really don't like the shoving-the-lines-person stuff. That's just jacked up. They would get a racquet in the face if they tried that ****.

On the other hand, I have to respect a guy who smokes ~1pk of Marlboro Reds/day and can play top-20 tennis for so long.

I think he's given up smoking long ago.
