Hello, I'm looking for a new string that would last a little longer than nylon.

I'm currently playing with Forten Nylon 16g and I'm getting about 4-5hrs. This string is pretty soft and feels good on the arm.

I also have another reel of Gosen Micro 17g, but that string feels a little stiffer and I don't like it as much as the Forten.

A few years ago, I used to play with Wilson Reaction 17g, but money was getting tight so I went with cheaper alternatives.

If any of you could suggest a soft synthetic gut for me, that'd be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Update: Strings I've tried:

Forten Sweet 16: 3.5 hrs, played great. Wish it'd last at least 5 hrs though.
Pro Supex Titan 16: had to cut out due to no feel.
    Klip Kicker 16:
    Ashaway Liberty 16:

Do the Forten Sweet last long for you?

And I couldn't find the Titan on Tenniswarehouse.

Thank you, Alpha and Toalson are a bit pricey.

Any more suggestions for a soft synthetic gut?

    Thanks again.

+1 For fortan Sweet. It really last longer in hybrid where Sweet in in crosses. On an average it lasts me around a month or more on play rate of 12-18 hours a week.

Just tried Forten Sweet for the past few sessions. It felt really nice, but it broke in 3 and a half hours...

I'm gonna try Pro Supex Titan and Klip Kicker and see how long they last.

Sweet is, well, *sweet*. But unless you have slow, short strokes only suitable as a cross to soften up a stiff set of mains. Great on its own for the "hit & giggle" crowd.

One consideration for you could be forten nylon 15. It's pretty darn soft and comfortable. Not exactly great tension maintance (it's nylon), but considering that you probably won't be restringing less than every two weeks or so, you'll be fine. You'll probably get an additional hour or two out of the 15 compared the the 16. An added benefit is that it comes in at 17 bucks a reel.

Ashaway Liberty is another softer synthetic gut. I've never tried it, but it's reputed to be around as soft as forten sweet. This comes in a 720 foot reel as 22 bucks... a little under 1.25 a set.

Hmm alright, I'll give ashaway liberty a try.

    Thank you.

I've been having to restring after every 3 sessions or so. And I'm practicing 4-5 times a week, that's why I don't really want to restring twice a week :(

    Ouch...

And at the lower priced, softer end of the spectrum... there's not all that much... Another syn gut possibility for you is Golden Set- they have two synthetic gut reels for pretty cheap (one at 25, one at 33). I have no idea how they play though.

Thank you for your input, but forten sweet did not last as long as I had hoped it would. It played great though, no complaints there.

Will be playing with Pro Supex Titan 16 tomorrow and see how that goes.

Practiced 2 sessions with the pro supex titan 16-- 3hrs total

The strings feel solid on impact for topspin groundstrokes, but I can't feel a thing while slicing or playing at the net.

It also felt kinda harsh on my arm while I was serving.

Had to cut it out. Forten Sweet still takes the top spot so far.

Will try Klip Kicker 16 next.

My new favorite Syn Gut is the Gamma with Wearguard. Not too stiff, not too soft. Just right, I use it as a cross in my Cyberflash hybrid.
