Solinco TourBite 16L Poly: Comparisons

I was looking for opinion's on this string. At this price point it seems to be a great value and performance string. It's very durable, great control and spin. If cost were no option and Poly was the only choice what's better? I kind of like the Solinco over RPM. What are other top quality poly strings out there?

Great string, and I believe you will see lots of love for it here.

I tend to prefer round strings myself, then Kirschbaum Max Power and RS Lyon are worth a look IMO.

STB 16l is my favorite string, crisp feel is what stands out, great spin, decent price. Others that i find similar include : Alu Power Spin (just a fraction softer), Head Sonic Pro Edge, Yonex Poly Tour Spin, MSV Focus Hex (very similar, same spin, slightly more power...probably #3 after Alu Power Spin), Wilson Revolve woth a mention.

I find it stiff. REALLY stiff. In order to use it I have to choose a very low tension. But as performance tb 16L is top notch:good power, maximum control and maximum spin.

stiff, low powered, control string with no feel. good if you are used to polyester and like to swing big on every single shot

Solinco revolution and Yonex poly tour spin are my favorites if price didn't matter. Out of tour bite and rpm blast however I heavily favored tour bite. Seemed to perform better in every department except comfort for me.

Price matters. But I prefer STB soft over any string. Kirschbaum Pro Line II and Lux 4G are first alternates.

With the thinner strings now available it is very easy to dial-in Tour Bite -- just a matter of finding the right gauge and tension. As far as I am concerned, Solinco could be a one-trick donkey, only offering Tour Bite, and I would be happy.

Damn, 63lb for poly? Must lose like 10lbs in the first hour

I'm certain my machine does not string it at 63 despite that being what it tells me. It's probably more like 57 or 58. I have never checked it but I just know that is what works on machine.

I get it. With some strings I set 55lbs on my machine and RacquetTune shows 50lbs right of the machine. Same technique and different string it will show 55lbs... go figure

I'm sure some of this is mitigated by more expensive machines...mine is electronic. ..constant pull but with a rotating head, not the straight pull

I have the gamma drop weight, supposedly the drop weight system is accurate, But sometimes when string has a lot of stretch, or doesn't stretch at all ( Like Luxilon 4g) I doubt the accuracy

Yeah I struggled for consistency the times I've used a drop weight
