this isn't meant to be an ATTACK on someone so keep your nickers on.

maybe it's just me, but i find it kind of lame that people wear RF clothing. It'd be on thing if federer retired 10 years ago and came up with a a general-use clothing line. but, he's still playing. there's a pair of RF shoes on the bay going for more than 600 dollars the last time i checked. shirts with RF going for 150.

it's one thing to wear nike/adidads/etc. those are generic, impersonal brands. to wear someone else's initials on your own clothing...that seems reallys silly to me. there's a guy who has an RF stencil on his racket. i remember being a kid not too long ago and wanting to be like sampras. but i never tried to make my PS85 look like his; surely i was influenced in buying the racket, but after that, i had my own initials on the strings. and since majoring in economics, i've had "dU/dx" on the strings(the math folks will get that).

    so?

    I mean why not?
i guess having something in common with the tennis god you must feel better, more confident when u play...
It's also a pretty nice range, when you can afford it lol
People see him as a role model, as their own brand...and like to wear "him" with them lol

ok well why do people wear football team jerseys or hats. We are supporting a player. People still wear Elway jerseys, even though he retired long time ago. its just like what everyone else has said, admiration and support. Roger Federer is like a team, just like teams in hockey or soccer or football.

The same reason why people will go out and spend billions buying "Bob Marley", "Beckham" or "MJ" t-shirts. I think they know they are not Bob Marleys, Beckhams or Michael.

You know, like paying tribute to their heros. Im sure you have a hero too (and im sure your hero is a rival to Federer). Lighten up.

Chill mon, bend it and do da moonwalk.

This is a silly thread. You wear it if you're a fan of his. I'd wear it because of the looks, too. RF or no RF. I like the white/gold. No way would I ever wear that all-black look from the USO- it's just not my style.

Hahah this is great. First of all Jordan anyone? I for one, along with tons of others have worn shoes with a picture of him on them for his whole career and still after.

And then you have a picture of yourself wearing Federer's black clothes:rolleyes: Do you not see the irony?

After the 15th slam, I'm definitely switching out all my ClimaLite hats to RF DriFits to commemorate RF's awesome achievement.

I was thinking that too... unless if you have a shoe fetish, I don't see why you would want to spend $600 for a pair of shoes... that you probably won't even wear. :-?

Im not big on wearing RF stuff myself.

But come on! People wore Michael Jordan's shoes and clothing line way before he retired.

People wear Tiger Woods stuff as well.

I have tons of friends who dressed like Agassi, and some still use all of his racquets (actually the old racquets).

That's just what some people like to do.

seeing as how nike makes the best stuff for their headlining athletes, those usually have a quality level a bit higher than the basic stuff too. the tiger woods line of golf clothing is unbelievable and jordans were/are the most advanced basketball shoes in terms of performance and comfort (or at least made to seem so). i mean look at the wimbledon vapors... theyre some of the nicest looking athletic shoes, not just tennis shoes, that ive ever seen in the white and gold colorway.

Because they are not wearing Federer clothes

They are paying homage to the model car/surf craze of the 60s

    "Rat Fink"

(I'm sorry, every time I see that logo, I think back to middle school)

"May be if I wear this I can steal some of Fed's mojo by looking like him".

This is always the case from Nike marketing. They know people would want to look like a superstar even though nobody can play like him. They sell u the fantasy.

Because they are try hard wannabes who pretend that they are "honoring" his tradition or reflecting his greatness at tennis but they are really just pompous losers who have too much cash and no skill at tennis and even less self confidence in their own individuality.

Its not like they actually advantage you more in any way because they have the initials of a man they most likely haven't even met or can remotely match their skills too.

Its not that I have a problem with people doing it in reality but they can wear their gay little clothes on the court when they play against me but I will own them even if I'm wearing my pajamas for all I care.

Don't get me wrong either, I wear nice clothes when playing and respect some cool looking tennis attire myself but the RF deal is just not that cool.

Oh and the reason why people wear Jordan, is because he was a real trend setter and everyone actually loved his sense of dress opposed to the overriding fact that his name was attached to the brand. Instead Federer wears stuff like that horrible jacket when he was walking onto centre court for the Wimbledon finals, who would seriously wear that.

well if it's a silly thread, why extend it? don't respond.

oh no you di'int, girlfriend. mmm hmmmmm. that pic is from june 2006. federer didn't wear that outfit until....ok i don't know when exactly he wore all black but i know it wasn't in 2006! and those shoes i'm wearing were Phat Farm all black high tops. no accent of any other color. i tried to find another pair like it everywhere; just couldn't. i played with those until the duct tape stopped working on the holes near my toe.

and i don't see the irony because there isn't any. If i had federer's black clothes, i'd put em up on the bay for fedboys. and, i didn't know federer owned the concept of color coordination and the color black. i wear black because i like it. the question wasn't about colors, it was about wearing someone else's initials on your own clothing. if federer had a brand that was NOT his initials, i'm sure it'd sell even more because then people like me would be more inclined to buy it. but, the idea that i'm walking around with some other guy's intials on my shirts and shoes is a little pathetic and cheesy.

Why do people wear baseball jerseys? Why do people where lebron shirts (Witness) and hats, football jerseys.

Fans. Tennis isn't marketed towards every player having their own fanfare.

Same reason people wore Borg's "Bj" clothing in the '70's, Connors' "JC" clothing in the '80's, and Agassi's "AA" clothing in the '90's.

    Why not? :)

But the difference is the Borg Fila shirt was the coolest shirt ever made. No shirt in the entire history of mankind was better than that. Now I know some of you are thinking "those Chuck Norris T-shirts are pretty cool." Trust me, nothing is better than a Borg shirt.

Same reason folks wear football jerseys with their favorite player's name.

They want to announce to the world who their fave is.
