I think he's using performance enhancing drugs. And what is that thing on his leg. It looks like some kind of stocking. I think Mardy Fish wears the same thing. It's very possible that the Mafia could have threatened Federer & Berdych. Should be interesting to see if he gets to the final.

No, I think, with Fed, the score was 6-2/6-4, with Birdy, it was 6-2/6-3. Anyway, you're right, there's something fishy in all this. Maybe, Volandri got one of those John Cauthen racquets (and Fed had his taken away) :p

The Sicilian mafia threatened every Volandri opponent.

    You heard it here first.

If he gets to the final and beats Nadal as well you may have a point. Otherwise, he's playing pretty good. Fed just stunk it up yesterday, no mafia.

if he wins the whole thing and beats rafa in the process then this thread will become 75 or so pages long....and if he wins a slam beating like roddick, federer, nadal in succession....then something is definitely fishy...;)

That thing under his patella has nothing to do with keeping his knee from hurting. It's actually a device which interferes with the opponent's reaction time, causes large numbers of unforced errors to be committed, and ultimately results in a win by Volandri. It has nothing to do with any criminal group...it was developed by Volandri's coach.

Did anyone notice that Roger's dad was watching the match but his mother was nowhere in sight? Could it be possible the mafia is holding Roger's mom hostage?

Damn you're too clever for the mafia :x

Actually the mafia arranged everything so that Volandri wins Rome MS by beating Nadal in the final. They managed to do this by threatening all the other contenders with a gun on their head.

    seriously its probably the crowd.

like agassi vs. bags usopen: agassi had like 100,000 of his closest friends cheering for him

    volandri:7,000

if any of you 5.5 to 6.0 players were playing atp top 100 with 5000 guys cheering for you, you would probably do well.
