    It predated the Head Vilas, or any other racquet that kind of looks like this, by over 40 years!

    It seems like Mr. Donisthorpe was quite the visionary. I wonder why the split throat design didn't catch on until so much later.

    Tilden used split throat racquets, but they weren't as elaborate as that one. The throat split near the hoop.

    Like any evolutionary tree, lots of mistakes were made and then discarded
