Spadea ain't afraid of ya!
He's lasted longer than James Blake at Wimby. RESPECT!
We need more characters like him in tennis to cut out the monotony and dead tones.
Shouldn't he be retired by now?
he's very funny i'll admit, but in a fred durst kind of way....
He is the man. He destroyed his opponent today. For me he is the best US tennis player since Sampras, except that he has personality too.
that might have been the greatest interview a tennis player has done in years. You know the women giving the interview was probably a good looking lady cause that was Vince putting the charm on.
I played him in a junior tournament about 20 years ago. He of course served me 2 bagels. During one of his serves, the racket slipped out of his hand and went into a fence pole and broke. I kind of snickered to myself since he was beating me so bad. My next service game the same damn thing happens to me!
You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
Funny story. How did your tennis career turn out?
Vince is a 7.0 and I'm a 5.0!
hahahah I love it! Hilarious interview
"I used to be a black panther"...too funny lol
Best in what way? Best tennis rapper? I don't even agree with that. Guess you've not heard of Roddick, Blake, Fish, Dent... a long list of American guys that could beat the crap out of Spadea with one arm handcuffed to the net post. He's amusing, I'll admit. But what's his ranking history, again?
I actually think Vince just enjoys being out there. He is better than you make him seem. (the post above me)
He is not easy to beat by any means. Who knows if Blake could have beat him today? Vince has been around for a long time and has some very good wins.
He's funny. Yes, he's different, but he's just trying to entertain others. His book Breakpoint is interesting. I wouldn't call it bestseller material but it has some interesting point about being a tennis pro.
Spadea has ATP career singles wins over Federer, Sampras, Agassi, Nadal, Roddick, Rafter, Kraijcek, Kafelnikov, Courier, Chang, and Kuerten. Career high ranking of #18
i believe that people around here are forgeting that mr Vincent Spadea should not be talked about in sucth terms.
i think that for our safety we should talk about him like this:
Vinnie is dem dawg and he gotz 'em bling factor... he iz the macdaddy...
Spadea could have been number 1 in the world if he hadnt spent so much time dealing rock crack on the side runnin from the po po straight ballin yo
Totally. I like weird people. And he's definitely different. Reminds me of a friend from high school. Miss that kid.
Funny..that guy ? He is bloathed with love for himself. .. thats not funny.. its quite sad..Dorian Gray syndrome.
I agree 100%
I found his book much more entertaining to read than Blake's. In fact, I stopped Blake's book about 80% of the way through, which is pretty unheard of.
k, just saw the vid, dude's on crack. I thought his raps in the book were pretty horrible, but there's nothing like experiencing the horror live.
Lol at "I used to be a puma." Entertaining guy.
i love his hat.. hilarious!
saw him live and up close. chill guy.
Not filled with self-love, but self-loathing, and dealing with it creatively it looks like. Which is a good thing!
OK, so Gasquet is suspended for cocaine and not this guy? You'd think he'd set off all the alarm bells after that interview.
Nevertheless, entertaining guy. Adds some color to the ATP, I hope he stays around.
I like that he's a bit of a different personality, but I don't really find him funny at all.
hes funny....... but not haha funny.........
The guy is hilarious..........
"people are like he's old AND he plays tennis.......it's like a double intimidation thing"
Spadea is the bomb.
What, that's how normal people talk (minus the rap), at least the people I hang out with. He's not some broken record of tennis cliches.
It's refreshing to listen to a tennis player bright enough to actually play on words and be sarcastic.
Most players are extremely one dimensional; hell, Federer is stuck in the first degree ("he played well but I still destroyed him, it's a pity really") and all Nadal can do is keep repeating "I try 100%, no?"
If Spadea could win more than 3 matches in a row he'd be a superstar.
Spadea at Starbucks:
i liked it. he once lost 21 atp tour matches in a row and kept going.
hard to believe it was 5 years ago he beat kiefer in scottsdale.
Yeah, that doesn't really do it for me.
amazing. i honestly have no idea what he's doing, but i like it.
