With Robredo defending his title this year - his lone Masters Series title, it's interesting to see how well Spaniads have done at this tournament over the years.
in 1996 Roberto Carretero won the title as a qualifier. He only had 23 tour match wins in his whole career, but 6 of them were during that one week in Hamburg! Unbelievable.
Other Spaniads to win it were Albert Portas, Albert Costa, Jose Higueras (twice), Manuel Orantes (twice) Juan Aguilera (twice) and Andres Gimeno. Alex Corretja was a 2-time finalist and Juan Carlos Ferrero, Felix Mantilla, Manuel Orantes and Jose Higueras have also been runners-up.
    Thats a pretty good record.

Spell check! Spanish, Spaniards; not Spaish and Spaniads.
