Spaniards are genetically pre-disposed to left handedness. Out of all the countries on earth, Spain has the highest population (percentage wise) of left handed people. The most well known left handed players on tour are Spanish. Nadal, Verdasco, Lopez and Almagro are all left handed and are all top 10 material.

Perhaps it's something in the diets of spanish people?

Nadal is right-handed, just plays tennis left-handed.

    Almagro is right-handed.

Moya is left handed also, but was taught to play right handed. Also, Nadal is right handed.

Does Almagro even have hands? I think it's time for Nadalfan89 to seek out the possibility that Almagro in fact has been secretely adding body parts and traits to his persona...

Only three of Spain's fourteen players in the top 100 play left handed. Plus, Nadal is right-handed, but he plays left. This thread really has no relevance.

two of the greatest left handed players ever came from America. America must be genetically modified to produce lefties.

#1 GOAT and #2 GOAT are lefties from Australia. Australia is genetically modifying its players to be natural lefties.

Federer > Laver (accoriding to Laver) and Rosewall

Nadal > Federer (14-8 h2h and current rankings and Olympics singles gold)

So, it is safe to say Nadal is still on top.

If people say Federer is better than Laver using *whatever* reasoning despite their having never played each other then to follow it by saying Nadal is better than Federer because of their H2H while conveniently ignoring their holistic achievements is just changing the comparison rules to suit your argument.

    Rosewall lefty?

Since when? Oh he heard lefties have an advantage so he switched to fulfill his dream of being the oldest major winner, a dream first stolen from him at Forest Hills in 1974 by the only lefty (or righty) to win the USO on three different surfaces. Yeah, that guy who got to a USO semi at almost 40, a guy you can't even spell his name right. It's C O N N O R S, and he competed in an era when majors were won by many more than two individuals, who you guys always trot out and have a "my d**k is bigger than yours" ass-boring argument over. Get a life!

I think that normally it follows the handedness, yes. Today I consider myself right handed and left footed. However, I was told that I am born left handed, but at some point (as a small child) started to use my right hand instead, because I started to mimic the people around me.

I was told that Ken Rsewall was a natural left hander as a child but was converted to a right hander. At that time society had a bias against lefthanders.

There definately is such a thing as dominent footedness. When you are for example, standing on 1 foot to see how long it would be before you lost your balance , normally a person would chose his dominant foot to stand on. That would be the foot you know you could stand on the longest. It would be the foot a child would play hopscotch on. A person usually is be left foot dominated or right foot dominated.

That happened to both me and my mother. And it was around the 80s (me) and early 60s!

Is that practice still active, anywhere?

Interestingly, there are a surprizing number of people who are right handed and left footed, like me. As a kid, I played soccer with two other kids who were also left footed and right handed.

If you watch pro soccer games, you can spot the goalies who are the same, throwing the ball with their right hand but kicking it with their left foot. At one time about 5-10 years ago, I remember being able to name about 5 different goalies from big-name teams who had this trait, and that was just one position (it's tough to tell for field players since they rarely ever throw a ball with one hand).

That said, I've only ever met one person who was right footed and left handed, and I've never seen any on TV.

Nadal, when playing soccer uses is left feet.

He needs to have some natural disposition to use is left hand, otherwise he wouldnt be able to play left-handed...

    So..perhaps be is ambidextrous
