Guys...would really appreciate it someone could shed light on the difference between the Spiky Shark Black and Yellow strings?

Are they the same string with different color pigments? Or is it a different string?

I imagine the black is a softer option.

i've heard the opposite. maybe the shape/features of the string will last longer.

I hope so, spike shark is fun to play with, but has such a short life and is so not fun to string that it's just not worth it. If black is longer lasting I would give it a try

I see...i just ordered a packet of both to test. Will update with my experience. I dont see any threads on this...which is kind of surprising as i was told the string is very similar to Solinco Tour bite, but a lot softer.

As a reel owner of Spiky Shark yellow and own sets of TB 16L, 17 and 18, let me just say that the strings are absolutely nothing alike. Truth be told, SS is more of a gimmick when compared to Tour Bite.

I believe they are supposed to be the same string, just in a different color. I'll be sticking with the reels of the yellow as TW has the black being slightly stiffer. Spiky Shark has been a great string for me. Im mainly a singles player and it suites my baseline game very well. I like TB as well, but it feels a bit too stiff for my liking. My only complaint is that it snaps on me fairly quickly. However, I use it in a full bed and with the edges on the string I shouldn't be surprised that it notches in short order.

So i just went to hit with both the strings strung at 52 with Goosen OG Sheep 17 in the crosses at 50 (Youtek Prestige pro - lead at 3/9 and 6pt HL).

I felt the Black string was a lot stiffer (I was surprised) for the first 20-30min, then it settled down and i was getting some awesome control and spin with power whenever i wanted to unleash on a few shots...but...after an hour of play i could feel it in my forearm (nothing i could not overcome). Tension maintenance was good, but there was enough string movement that i had straighten my strings every two or three points. My slices stayed so low my opponent was having a hard time brushing over them..it felt awesome.

The yellow string was a lot softer, not very good tension maintenance when compared to the black, it got very mushy and i could not swing out like before.

If i had to choose i would definitely choose the black string as i hate moving strings around and i really liked the control this string has after even after 1.5hrs of blasting balls. Loved the bite on slice serves and my slice backhand...

This is from TW string comparison. So BabolatTennis9 I guess you are wrong. There is a huge difference in string stiffness

LOL, so the Yellow one is Softer and has TONS of more spin potential ??? IS this true ?? or is it a mistake ? Because reason I ask is Proline 2 also comes in Black and Red. Does the black one play different in that too. ???

It's not a gimmick. I like SS better, but you correct in saying that they are very different strings. They both produce great spin though. Different strings for different folks.

I said it is more of a gimmick simply because once the edges of the string wear off, it plays like a 1st gen poly. Tour Bite, however, continues to be ridiculous until it dies.

I have been using the Yellow for the past year with Gosen OG Sheep Micro 17 as the crosses strung at 52/48. Strung the black in yesterday with Gosen and thought that it was stiffer. Good bit and control but didn't feel the pocketing like Yellow. Played 2 hours and did not notice much string movement however, I don't consider myself as a player with a lot of Top Spin.
