Spin Hybrid

I normally play a with a full synthetic gut setup (Gosen Micro 16). But I've been looking to add more topspin to the ball. I don't want to completely drop the Gosen, so I'm thinking about trying a hybrid with Gosen in the cross, and putting a textured string in the mains--that will hopefully add more bite.

Has anyone tried a textured string in the mains only, e.g., Prince Topspin, Head Fibergel Spin, or Yonex 80 Spin?

If so, has it produced any significant help in terms of topspin groundstrokes, kick serves and the like?

Yes, you can try Pro Supex Blue Gear or MSV Hex in the mains with Gosen Micro 16 in the crosses.

This should give you added spin.

Remember that thinner gauges also give more spin. Have you tried Gosen 17 (1.22) or Gosen Sheep Micro 18g (1.15)?

If you like the full Gosen setup, then these would have a closer feel and should offer enhanced spin.

Yeah, I've heard those put crazy spin, but I'm reluctant to use poly strings with its tension loss and its effect on the arm.

Have you tried any non-poly textured strings?

I guess you can try Wilson Super Spin but it really is not that good in spin compared to the polys.

I had a hybrid of Topspin Cyberflash 1.20 and Gosen OG Micro 18. I felt really nice and offered lots of spin.
