I have SPPP 17 full bed in my 18X20 racket. The strings feel firm and is good for control and great spin but lack power and comfort and is proving to be harsh on my arm(I Use an upweighted n-code 6.1 95 team, otherwise a super comfy racket with good power).

I have another set of SPPP 18 and thinking of hybriding it with Head Syn Gut PPS in crosses for some convenient power and comfort.

Please advise me regarding tension, gauge and benefit I can get with this set up.

HSGPPS is not the best synthetic gut for hybrids but it will sure soften that stringbed. If we all knew the correct tension for any hybrid on any given racquet we would save kms of string, you gotta go with trial & error.

What tension are you using right now for the fullbed of SPPP?

Why do you say PPS is not best? Only ask cause I strung hundreds of hybrids with this as a cross for customers and never had one complaint - in fact people prefer it over PSGD as it allows the mains to move more freely. Even got a futures player using Alu Power mains & PPS cross and he's loving it.

Oh definitely, you should try 50 lbs or even high 40's. You really don't lose that much control and it will be more comfortable. I currently string at 47 lbs full bed and 51/53 in a hybrid with Wilson Synthetic Gut.

I switched to Kirschbaum Super Smash Orange from SPPP and find them to play very similarly. I only switched since the Super Smash is in packs and I'm playing fullbed currently. I string for a couple of friends using the same SPPP/Wilson Synthetic Gut hybrid so it's easier to just cut half a set from that and note waste string from the pack.

My friends that I string for use the BLX 6.1 95 so pretty close to your stick.

    Thanks.
Since I have 18 gauge I am thinking of stringing M-53(SPPP-18)/C-57(HSGPPS-16).Will it be fine.
