Stan's hometown renamed in his honor

Have they renamed Geneva to Federer. They should first do that.

Or maybe the nation should be Federerland with "17" on the flag.

Roger grew up in Basel, as you must know.

Marc Rosset was born in Geneva. If the 6' 7" ace machine had wanted to rename his hometown, perhaps no one would have tried to stop him.

As a huge Nadal fan, I only know that Nadal was born in Spain. I know nothing of this Federer you speak of.

BTW, I still remember that most excellent and stirring gif you posted several years back during the grass season.:)

Federer is German Swiss from Basel, Geneva is French
I think they already named few streets on his name, and made national stamps on him, and probably the biggest stadiums and cups in the country will be named after him when he retires

Stanville? Wawa town? Stawa City? Wa?

All of these suggestions definitely have a real ring to them and will attract hordes of tennis fans and tourists alike.

No that Stan isn't a worthy champion but wow, not much must happen there huh?

1 major and they change the town's name... I wonder what would they do if a meteor struck nearby?

"Stantastic", read the Neue Zuericher Zeitung (New Journal of Zurich).

Well, they better not get tongue-tied.

Saint-Barthélemy (canton de vaud) has been renamed (actually a joke) Stan-Barthélemy :

Seems like a lot of countries in the middle east and central asia had already named themselves in Stan's honor?

It's unfortunate that Stan couldn't celebrate fully as he deserved to and it's a nice thing to have this accolade but he's been rather critical of Fed's lack of interest in the DC cup and has made some comments about Fed that have come off as sour grapes.

I don't think it was sour grapes. He just wanted Federer to play on the team. Wawrinka was not even a quarter of the player he is now a few years ago. He used to lose Davis Cup matches frequently and probably wanted Federer to play to ease the pressure of his shoulders because as big of gap there is between Federer and Wawrinka, there is probably a bigger gap between Wawrinka and everyone else on the swiss team. Friends try to get friends to play Davis Cup. :)

Besides, I dont think Stan has said anything critical about Federer recently. He just said that Federer called him after the match to congratulate but they didn't talk about davis cup and that he hopes Federer can play at DC.
